Whoa! That‘s sick. Congratulations, though I‘m also really, really jealous. Thanks! Got lucky on discogs, popped up in my search list right when it was listed. Acted fast and got a good deal, for this rare test. Wow. That was indeed a lucky shot. I think I've checked Discogs daily since you posted this, but unfortunately to no avail, haha.

Might anyone have a photo of their copy of the 4th press warzone on clear? I just purchased one and it seems a bit off. The clear vinyl has an almost smoky brown tint flowing through it and the cover is on a harder stock of paper (almost cardboard). I know Rev back then would have had 1001 variations of covers/inserts so I'm not too concerned about that, but every version I've seen of the 4th press has been full on clear and not clear with brown swirls in it. There was a thread on this board a few years ago about this very issue. revcollectors.proboards.com/thread/823/warzone-clear-transition-press-dirty

I never was a Rev collector per se. There are a few bands / releases I have multiple copies of, but I’m nowhere near the level most people on here are. The only record on Rev I will probably continue to buy, no matter how many represses there are, is Start Today. Generally I don’t bother with all the represses Rev does, unless they add something to the original, like liner notes, extra pictures,… I really liked the reissue of the Turning Point 7”, mainly because of the way they modelled the Rev logo after the Hi-Impact logo. Didn’t buy a copy originally, but after seeing pictures on chungking48’s blog I caved.
I think I’ve said it before on here: generally I think it’s awesome labels keep repressing all these classic records, so future generations have easy access to this part of the culture.

The best thing about reading this thread again was seeing all of the names of the people posting. I guess this board used to be quite good fun and lots of people chipped in with comments. Ah, the good old days! Also, for my own amusement (and for the other 3 people who still read this board), I thought I would update my numbers as things have moved a bit in the last 8 years. 1. Integrity: 309 (was 122) 2. Bane: 93 (was 74) 3. Youth Of Today 61 (was 31) 4. Down To Nothing: 56 (was 33) 5. Cave In: 72 (was 50) 6. Rot In Hell: 55 (was less than 30) 7. Gameface: 53 (was less than 30) 8. Give: 45 (was less than 30) 9. Black Flag: 41 (was 35) Will be interesting to see how things will have changed when we get to 2030. We didn‘t get an update on the total number Also, the number of Integrity records you have is bonkers.

I started this thread 8 years ago? Time flies… Here’s my top 5 as of 2022:
Bane: 93 (67) —> I think the last LP accounts for about 20 of the added 26 records, haha.
Good Clean Fun: 58 (51) —> Not many more variants out there…
Spirits: 49 (0) — A collector‘s dream/nightmare.
Sick Of It All: 43 (41) —> I sold a bunch of variants of the more recent LPs, but apparently I picked up more than I remember.
Modern Life Is War: 43 (?) —> I only started collecting MLIW again after this post, so I probably only had one or two copies of each release back then. Still looking for the last show box set.

I started getting emails almost every day a few weeks ago from people on discogs wanting to buy my Promise LPs. I wondered if maybe there was an episode about this record on a podcast or something that reminded people that it exists. But it turns out that no, the recent interest is to do with the artwork. Somehow some art community seem to have got wind of this LP all these years later and they are scrambling to try to buy one. People seem to be offering me around $200 for the record. I deleted them all without response. Somehow this peaked my interest. So the cover apparently shows some piece of art by Banksy (couldn't find the original though) or was t least inspired by Banksy. That would explain the hype. People even advertise the record on Discogs with a reference to Banksy. I'm very tempted to add that LP to Banksy's Wikipedia, haha. He did do an official CD cover for Blur and a prank one of Paris Hilton's debut CD (her having released an album is the most shocking fact of this research.), so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch... $200 seems like a lowball offer, even though the hype seems to be dying already. The sales chart on Discogs for the last year is absolutely bonkers. Congratulations to whoever sold that record for 1000€. I applaud you for your shrewd business sense. You can buy it back for a fraction of that now. Kudos. Edit: Just checked Popsike. One sold for 2.5k in January. Wow, just wow. Does that put this record in the top 5 of most expensive hardcore LPs ever sold?

As long as you’re repositioning your set up, I‘ve always been told by people way more into stuff like this that you should never ever put your speakers and your turntable on the same surface, because the vibrations of the speakers might affect the record playing.

It'll be interesting to see if/how the fallout of their last US tour will affect the upcoming European tour. For all I care they don't need to bother coming over. What fallout? I've not been paying attention. What happened? Word is that Cappo and Porcell caught Covid on tour, but didn't tell anyone (neither other band members nor the audience), thus exposing other people to the virus. SourceThere was also talk about this on a recent episode of the Axe To Grind podcast.

Hello, Rev Board. I am new to this forum and I am hoping to receive some feedback from you. I have some 7” and 12” records that I acquired during the 1980s that have been sitting in my garage for years. I have not compiled a list yet as more than likely I will need to acquire a new turntable to make sure that they are in sellable condition. The music genres range from hardcore to hip hop to metal to punk. While I realize this is not the forum for all of these genres, I am wondering if any of you can point me in the direction of a forum where I may be able to sell my records in a collection in lieu of in a piecemeal manner; my wish would be to sell them as a starter vinyl collection. Or, if I need to sell them one at a time, based on your experience what is the best venue, e.g. eBay, Discogs? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you! If you want to sell your records in one big chunk, I guess it largely depends on where you are located and how big your collection is, because shipping might be a big factor. If there is still a record store in your area, that might be one way to go. When I sell records one at a time, my personal order is as follows (mostly to avoid paying fees): offer it to friends privately - Instagram - Facebook groups specialising in that genre - message boards like this one here - Discogs. I haven‘t sold anything on eBay in years and I feel eBay has been rather dead as far as records are concerned, with the exception of real heavy hitters.

I may be wrong, but the prices of almost all the records issued from 1997 on, have dropped.... you can buy rare records from bands like The First Step, Modern life is war , Righteous Jams, Go it alone, Champion etc. for rather cheap.....they used to sell for too $$...... maybe only some early releases from AN , Have Heart and few more are still going for quite a penny, but it seems to me that only the rare stuff up to 1992 circa is keeping an high collectors’ price As someone who collects Modern Life Is War and Go It Alone, I agree that prices for the more common variants have gone down. On the other hand, the rare stuff rarely pops up, so I‘m not sure if those bands qualify as “bands that didn‘t have legs“ because people hang on to their rare records. I don‘t think that e.g. the MLIW last show box would fetch a four figure price as it did shortly after the band broke up, but I’m sure it will still go for a pretty penny today. Champion is a different case I think. They would probably still have legs if it hadn‘t been for what was revealed about the singer. Rivalry Records was another great label in the 2000s. So many great releases that I still listen to today on a regular basis and the label usually did a great job with packaging. Maybe not that surprising considering Kyle Whitlow was a big time collector himself.

Can't believe that in 2021 a deal like this still can happen, the seller didn't do any homework before starting the auction Or maybe someone did their homework but said "Well, I got the record for $5 when it came out, but I'm good with 20 times what I paid for it." I'm telling myself this mainly because I hope to find such a bargain myself one day.

TBH i listend till the side by side episode and i just couldn't listen to all that talk from these guys anymore. it annoyed me that they put collectors down and criticized that no one needs more than 2 versions of one record. to me this is somehow essential knowledge to run a podcast in that format, since they use all the sepcs from the records but nothing about the pressing infos? also mentioning all that patreon thing and sponsoring get very quickly annoying. maybe i am old school, but imo people done zines, and interviews back then for fun and as a hobby, not for profit, so why make a podcast and try to get money for it? sorry, thats the uncoolest thing to do in a diy scene. but i know that i might be the only one with that opinion. its, cool to hear some of the members get interviewed, thats for sure the cool thing about it. i just wonder what these old farts can talk about that they didn't talk yet in the last 25plus years? Well, it’s true though. Nobody needs more than 2 copies of a record. Actually, nobody needs more than 1 copy of a record if you just want to listen to the music and read the lyrics. So the point they made is valid imho. Not everybody is a (Rev) collector. That doesn‘t mean people don‘t want more copies or aren‘t allowed to have more than one or two copies. The hosts of the podcast acknowledged from the start that they aren’t Rev collectors in the sense of this message board and that they don’t even own all Rev releases on vinyl, so why should they or how could they even talk about pressing info and collecting? I’d guess that the majority of listeners is more interested in the history and stories revolving around the records than in actual pressing info anyway. But if you want to turn that round table discussion you recently participated in into a podcast, I for one would listen to that as well Sure, people usually do zines as a hobby, but they still sold them because they wanted to make back the money they invested. Zines weren’t free in the 80s or 90s, were they? Doing a podcast costs money as well, so why shouldn‘t they ask for money? And you can still listen to most of the content for free whereas for zines you always had to pay. So that analogy doesn‘t really work. Besides collecting records is definitely less punk or in the spirit of DIY than charging money for a product you made. Not everybody has been around for 25+ years, so it’s cool for younger listeners to learn something about the history of all these records and the people behind them. I think the band dynamics the different people talked about in the interviews were pretty interesting, which is something you can’t get from a written interview, and personally I Iearned plenty of things about all of those records and the people involved. On the actual episode: One of my favourite episodes so far. As Nico said the members were really honest with each other and there was so much background information. Loved it. Currently listening to the second episode about the Inside Out 7”.

Did anyone listen to this, it really hit me how brutally honest some of the discussions where between the former band members. Definitely on of the best things I listened to in a while. Not yet. Just finished the Quicksand episode. But I'm really looking forward to if after everything I've heard so far.

I wanted to look up something this morning and found it was gone, too. Rev seems to have updated the website and merged the shop and the pressing info site. revhq.com/pages/releasesyes only partly. It goes to Rev40-ish, plus it was so convenient to have everything in a single list. Plus all the non-rev pressing info is gone now too. Maybe the intern just hasn’t got around to doing it
