for those not on IG, get on it. dave sfu just posted his warzone collection and in it he has a dirty clear vinyl warzone. it has to be one of the rarest rev records ive have ever seen.

For those who don't have instagram, you can see the pic here: http://instagram.com/p/m7yKhks68N Geoff - if you ever go round to visit this you need to go prepared to take photos! I'd suggest taking a clear one for comparison and taking a photo of the two on a white background. If you could please sort this ASAP it would be appreciated, ha!

i havent had dave over in years. so i think its time. i will get all types of comparison pics. maybe a big warzone 7" shot. theres no doubt though, its not clear at all. 100% positive. that record is ground breaking in rev collecting world.

Def not a transition color. Its too uniform. It looks like it just yellowed dude to age and prob the vinyl mix. Maybe exposure to smoke. Much like old plastic computer parts or sneaker soles. www.discogs.com/help/forums/topic/360683another example of a record this happens to often is the Gang Green sold out on clear

ive long suspected that there was a transition press with this one. i can see what you are saying and you are correct, the gang green is a perfect example of that tea coloring. you could be correct with this, including it being uniform in color. its just that there are copies of the clear warzone that have brown spots that have made me think that there was a transition. either way, im getting new photos tonight and will hopefully see it in person in the next couple weeks. the nerd in me wants it to be a transition press. if it is, i will be happy because dave has always loved warzone so its in a good home. very good point though. thanks.

I used to have the gang green on clear and it was all sorts of "tea" spotty. I don't think it's a "reaction" to anything. I think they were all just like that. Some more and some less I guess.

Just found the photos of the Gang Green 7" on my PC. This definitely doesn't look like anything age related. I have actually never noticed any of the records change colour like the cheap plastic products do when exposed to sunlight. My theory would be that the vinyl darkened because something got mixed up into the wax during the melting process. I have the regular copy of the Crippled Youth for example that's on your average Chain of Strength coke bottle clear and I have another copy that full of black freckles. The black in the other one changed the composition of clear so that it's no longer greenish clear but rather brownish clear. I do realise the Warzone has no spots but on the speculation level only my bet would be that this happened at some stage of the manufacturing process rather than after. However it happened it doesn't change the fact that that WZ record looks really really REALLY amazing.

Not doubting it but didn't Dave himself say he has no recollection of it being this smokey color. Seems like a good argument for the weird aging vinyl argument although I've never seen this happen. Some googling suggests it does happen though. Dave and Fat Rich were the first dudes I ever heard of even having WZ on clear.

I got a clear vinyl 7" today and it has the same weird 'tea staining' effect. The weird thing is that it's brown around the outside. I used to own a copy of this 7" years ago and it was on crystal clear vinyl. This copy is on a misty clear vinyl. My gut instinct tells me that this record didn't come out of the plant like this, but that it has turned misty and brown over time. Really makes me wonder about whether that Warzone 7" started life as a clear record and has turned brownish over time.

I like when people are talking about me. Its not uniform. There are definite swirls. The record has never been exposed to smoked (it came from Rev to a tattoo shop-to me and im sXe). Its not so much that i dont remember it being on smokey clear, its more that i never saw another clear to compare it to. When Geoff pointed it out to me i was like "oh yeah i guess youre right"

Mystery solved. The record yellowed from sunlight exposure. 99% sure the person i bought it from had it hanging on the wall in his tattoo shop (the plastic sleeve it was it had pinholes). If you look at the pic above on the right side of the vinyl you can see the faint outline of the words "East Side" If i lay it on top of the cover of the 7" it matches up, along with that streak above the R in Revelation matching to the space between the A and the R in the WarZone logo.

i still think its cool as hell and unique as can be. its the only one like it that ive ever seen, most likely will ever see. then again, all warzones on clear are unique. there arent many of them out there. so glad i got mine but the price tag keeps going up every year. one of the best rev records to have in a collection.
