Hello, Rev Board.
I am new to this forum and I am hoping to receive some feedback from you.
I have some 7” and 12” records that I acquired during the 1980s that have been sitting in my garage for years. I have not compiled a list yet as more than likely I will need to acquire a new turntable to make sure that they are in sellable condition. The music genres range from hardcore to hip hop to metal to punk.
While I realize this is not the forum for all of these genres, I am wondering if any of you can point me in the direction of a forum where I may be able to sell my records in a collection in lieu of in a piecemeal manner; my wish would be to sell them as a starter vinyl collection. Or, if I need to sell them one at a time, based on your experience what is the best venue, e.g. eBay, Discogs?

If you want to sell your records in one big chunk, I guess it largely depends on where you are located and how big your collection is, because shipping might be a big factor. If there is still a record store in your area, that might be one way to go. When I sell records one at a time, my personal order is as follows (mostly to avoid paying fees): offer it to friends privately - Instagram - Facebook groups specialising in that genre - message boards like this one here - Discogs. I haven‘t sold anything on eBay in years and I feel eBay has been rather dead as far as records are concerned, with the exception of real heavy hitters. |

Also, when keeping records in the garage, I hope you're somewhere like California not Florida. Otherwise you might find that your records now walk and talk back to you 🤣

Everything that I have (I think) is from the 1980s. So, in the case of the 7”, think of the standard stuff, e.g. Crippled Youth, Youth of Today, Warzone, Judge, Underdog, Turning Point, Impact Unit, Deathwish, Infest, Hard Stance, Brotherhood…
As you inferred, selling anything will be dependent upon the record’s condition. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so fingers crossed the vinyl has weathered our storms.
