www.revelationrecords.com/news/show/275While going through the archives getting ready for the 25th anniversary shows we've been uncovering some gems. We'll be re-issuing some long-out-of-print records and putting out some shirts that haven't been made in years. The first shirt will be the Chain Of Strength "What Holds Us Apart" using updated original artwork and we're also making some hand-screened posters. Both will be available for order on May 7th.

Yeah - I posted it on livewire before and reading through these stories reminded me of it again. Man - my parents flipped out on me. They thought it was me. I was like, "no way!" But it's probably about the time they busted me for watching one of my dad's pornos so they already thought I was some kind of a pervert (they didn't actually catch me watching it - just one day I came down to breakfast singing the theme song "ladies in lace"... not smart). Anyway - they called up the phone company and I think they were able to get the charges dropped. I'd love to catch up with that kid though. Someone else on Livewire said he ripped them off, too. I don't remember his last name though.

Many years ago when I was first collecting records (90/91?) I had a bunch of awesome and rare HC and SXE records. There was a SXE dude traveling through Memphis (where I lived) from New Zealand and I put him up in my house (Matt from Auckland - that's all I remember - short blonde hair. I think he was traveling with a friend, too). Anyway, he was very friendly and we worked out a deal for a big trade. So I let him take a bunch of my records with him (I can't even remember which ones it's been so long) and he was going to send me a bunch of rare stuff like Project X, etc. when he got back to New Zealand. To make a long story short, after he left, I never heard from him again. Then, to top it all off, my parents get a $1,000 phone bill from the night he was here because he called sex chat lines all night... If anyone knows an old SXE kid from Auckland named Matt, let me know...

I don't understand sellers who won't ship internationally. Half my auctions are won by overseas sellers and they tend to bid much higher for items. There are a few problem countries (like Italy) - but I've never had an issue and I ship the cheapest way internationally. I've had international bidders pay crazy money for stuff I could still buy from New Age or Revelation - I guess because their shipping costs are so high (or sketchy) or maybe they had eBay bucks.

My feeling is this: it takes two seconds to send a "no thanks" email. Why not do it? If you're annoyed with the offer and think it is low ball, send a high ball counter. I find it annoying when someone doesn't have the courtesy to write back - particularly if they posted a list of what they had for sale and asked for "offers." If you want a particular sum, ask for it. And if you think my offer is too low, then counter. I have people email me from a list I posted two years ago and I always respond with a "sorry - those are gone."
I have sent what some may consider "low ball" offers before when someone posted a FS list and asked for offers. A record is only worth what someone will pay. If you want a specific sum, then list a price! I will NEVER pay eBay prices (whatever that is) for a record posted in a private sale. If you want eBay prices - then SELL THE RECORD ON EBAY and deal with the non-payers, bidders, and other BS! And we all have seen the crazy auctions where a record sells for hundreds of dollars and the next time it is listed it sells for $30. And if it is a trade, I have no idea how much you "value" the record you want as opposed to the one you are giving up. I have given lop sided trades where I really wanted a record I couldn't find and had a double or picked something up something else really cheap that was "worth" a lot more than what I wanted.
Anyway - I don't think anyone should be annoyed when someone send a cash or trade deal they don't like. Just say so. Everyone has a different sense of what something is worth.

I can't help it but every time I listen to that 7" there's a song on there that reminds me of the MASH theme.

There was much drama between HLers and Rob R Rock that extended beyond hardball. I think he made some anti HL comments in some zine or something. Still trying to get a hold of that Raid 7" test on red. My buddy will let it go soon.
My favorite record is probably Walter Schreifels lp test press #1/4 because Jeff hasn't sold me the quicksand 7" test yet. But my fave hardcore item is the OG art from the back of the Manic Compression LP or the Dine Alone TV dinner promo.
