I was wondering how you deal with people waiting to buy your records, but just throw lowball offers?
I know I am not perfect, sometimes I want something and I am off to when it comes to the price. But getting ridiculous offers, like I did the last few days starting to piss me off a lot.
What shall I do? Delete the emails, not respond and don't bother or do a ridiculous counter offer?

personally I always reply, even if only with a "no thanks", but I see what you mean, esp. people on the B9 board can be very annoying with bullshit offres.... not the mention the "I will pay next week" guys who disappear... Another thing that bothers me is when you send a trade offer, based on a guy's want list, and he don't even bother replying. this happens to me quite often on the HYE board...

I generally reply with "I have a higher offer, thanks" I don't get bothered with dudes that lowball me. Shit happens all the time and I just let it pass me by. What pisses the fuck out of me are geezers that buy 15-20 records and "will pay at the beginning of next week" and then "just few more days" and then "my pay will on the 28th" and then they stop fucking replying and I'm sitting on $300 worth of shite for a month. That's WAY more of a problem than lowballers. Those don't bother me at all.
Also, I have just received the RoadRunner version of Black Flag's Damaged (what's up Lecky) and I emailed the seller: "Does the cover have any seam splits?" to which I got a "No, it's perfect" answer and then got a record with a seam fucking split on the side spine where the writing is. I fucking hate cunts that lie to you flat out about the condition of the record. It's worse than lowballers, worse than non-paying wankers, fuck it's even worse than the Past Present compilation

I've faced all of these situations you mention as well as in the middle of a half dozen trades right now. Never a perfect situation happens be it ebay or private sales since one person always wants more or other wants to give up less or has extras of same record but won't give up....then the shipping and paypal fees are brought up to furher make trade a hassle after wax is settled up.
I always try to give market / ebay value for my offers and trade but a few dollars lower since no ebay fees yet discogs has been my favorite site for none rev items. I'm 3 for 3 so far with buys and no issues with time/price/condition and 2 no responses which I always give 3 chances for other party to repsond then I assume trade/sale is bs and walk.
My last 3 biggest deals this past year went like this:
Seller had clearly $4,000 in records In a prefect ebay world yet most likely got records for free with ties to label and bands. I picked up for $1,600 after giving seller a set price per record thinking I get maybe 3 or 4 with my offers yet seller took all my offers. I have zero desire of selling...took a few weeks to finalize since it was cash deal and no trades so I had to sell some of my excess and put on credit card. If I ever have to sell items I'm gonna give seller 1st crack to buy back since I'm more Into collecting than selling and flipping for profits.
2nd deal had about 6 or 7 records in a cash deal with 1 clearly a fake test press...seller clearly knew this and since cash deal was done and I didn't want any other items. I called seller out and after we both played the name game and I knew this dude and this band seller agreed to take back and return $$$. In the end I would still work another trade / sale with person since other items were prefect and took 1 phone call to correct.
Last deal is most annoying since I contacted person with I have this and I see many wants. After a few bs emails and person seemed geniue we started to go back and forth with I add this and same for other person. I think at one point his 2 wants went up to a dozen or so to my dozen or so wants. I was losing 2 unreplaceble items with about a dozen others with other losing all doubles and 2 hard to get items. Now mind you I was buying and trading with others so I kept removing items from my side of trade since 1 band was his favorite so once I could get somewhere else I'd remove item and give trader a list of items to pick from since it was really 2 items for 2 items with fluff on sides. After friendly emails back and forth for a few months with agreed upon trade I sent pics for other dude to see I have all I'm offering since with extras thown in the other party stopped replying!?!?!?!
Since these last 2 deals have happened....I trade / buy from others as I send after I get items 1st and buys are 50% down and rest of cash after I get items so I know are real deal.
Sorry for long responses....will post many pics and offer up many rev items to make up for this. Hahahaha

Several years ago I used to be proud of the fact that I would reply to every email. I thought that was a nice thing to do.
These days, however, I delete a lot of emails without replying. The way I see it, I don't have much spare time, so I'm certainly not going to waste any of it replying to people who insult me with stupid offers just so that they don't get upset from not getting a reply. If people want a polite & reasonable reply, then I would suggest that they send a polite & reasonable email in the first place.

I'd just like to say I wasn't the seller, and Dobek is saying "what's up" to me because we had a conversation about pressings of Damaged on facebook a few weeks ago. Gotta protect my rep....haha. Re: Answering emails - I still reply to everyone, I don't get very many emails about trades/sales though and I probably have more spare time than most people, I put low offers down to either the buyer not knowing how much it's worth or just trying their luck in the hopes that I don't know what I have. Either way it's not a problem, it doesn't bother me.

Personally I find offers a total pain. When it comes to record activity 95% of the time i'm buying and 5% of the time i'm trading or selling. Offers are more back and fourth emailing which can sometimes be a pain depending on time zones. I like to think that most of my offers are relatively fair (hopefully some people on here can vouch for me!) But I would rather A money figure right in front of me so I can just say yes or no. Makes life easier. Sometime offers to me are just a frustrating guessing game. Everyone who I deal with on this board are straight forward on to the point quite quickly and reliable so im happy with that. No beef with anyone trade or sale wise on this board ! But I can definitely see your side of the coin as well Nico. If the offers are beyond ridiculously low just a polite no thanks to the potential buyer emailing you

Yeah low offers can be a pain, I actually find lowball trades worse than sales. I've had some really poor offers for my Minor Threat s/t first press and my Project x 7" with zine. Had offers for these records for things like GB LP on red or chain confusion sleeve. Records that are no way near the same value. But I always try and reply with a no thanks, or alternate offer if the other person actually has something I really want. I mean I've had my emails ignored for what seems like a fair price/trade but I guess the seller wasn't interested but I don't take it personally.

Then we come to this: where dou you get the prices that you offer when you wanna buy some and what price do you want when you sell?
Do you take the last item sold on ebay? Popsike? Recordsfrenzy? Or what?
I always want to pay a lower price than i want when i sell something. But my offers are always low cuz i wanna handle ou a good price for me. When i wanna pay 200 for a record i dont offer 200 i start low.

My feeling is this: it takes two seconds to send a "no thanks" email. Why not do it? If you're annoyed with the offer and think it is low ball, send a high ball counter. I find it annoying when someone doesn't have the courtesy to write back - particularly if they posted a list of what they had for sale and asked for "offers." If you want a particular sum, ask for it. And if you think my offer is too low, then counter. I have people email me from a list I posted two years ago and I always respond with a "sorry - those are gone."
I have sent what some may consider "low ball" offers before when someone posted a FS list and asked for offers. A record is only worth what someone will pay. If you want a specific sum, then list a price! I will NEVER pay eBay prices (whatever that is) for a record posted in a private sale. If you want eBay prices - then SELL THE RECORD ON EBAY and deal with the non-payers, bidders, and other BS! And we all have seen the crazy auctions where a record sells for hundreds of dollars and the next time it is listed it sells for $30. And if it is a trade, I have no idea how much you "value" the record you want as opposed to the one you are giving up. I have given lop sided trades where I really wanted a record I couldn't find and had a double or picked something up something else really cheap that was "worth" a lot more than what I wanted.
Anyway - I don't think anyone should be annoyed when someone send a cash or trade deal they don't like. Just say so. Everyone has a different sense of what something is worth.

After friendly emails back and forth for a few months with agreed upon trade I sent pics for other dude to see I have all I'm offering since with extras thown in the other party stopped replying!?!?!?! since this is about the deal we were working out, i guess i will reply. first, you are making it sound like i was being unreasonabble, i know what records are worth and i know what Reels are worth. just because something is limited or rare, doesn't automatically make it worth it's weight in gold. i told you EARLY in our correspondence that although i wanted the bold reel, it wasn't something i was willing to give up a handful of test pressings and a PX with zine among others (which is what you originally wanted) , audio reel's are cool to have and all but realistically what are you goin to do with them? second, after we started getting the trade in motion, you literally took about 2 months to reply to me, and when you did you re-did the entire trade because you had picked up some of your wants in the meantime. no big deal, i'm flexible third, you never told me that the test you were offering was a '97 repress of the record, which i wasn't entirely as interested in as i was when i was under the assumption it was an original pressing test, which isn't a huge deal, to be fair i don't think it was ever said which pressing it was until you sent a picture. but if i was making an offer including a record that had been repressed a handful of times, i would include accurate information as to which pressing it was from the very beginning, so yeah, i wasn't as motivated because i didn't feel like a '97 repress test was worth what i was giving you, and wanted to think it over a little more before continuing. 4th, during the re'thinking process, i had a close family member diagnosed with cancer and passed away within 6 months, corresponding with people about record trades that kept changing during this 6 months wasn't exactly my top priority for a while, and although i admit i dropped the ball and could have easily hit you up with a quick email, i didn't because like i said it wasn't my top priority. but whatever, i'm glad to see you're taking it like an adult.

@ troy'
Glad your during ok now and read again what you qouted I typed. I was not bashing anyone...as we both know what are records where worth and we are adults who sent email wants back and forth....no insulting offers happened since you threw all doubles on table available as I tried to as well to take only your doubles.
Ok 2nd point - yeah trade was moving faster as we both pulled shirts out of mix....I added a few records to my list did you. Hell if we would have done a 2 or 3 items for 2 or 3 items then all would have been maybe better but each had too many items from each side moving on and off lists....but hell I'm still down for a trade I mentioned kindly in all the unanswered letters I sent....well emails
And for the 3rd one.....I knew what I had and it wasn't on my HYE page as a '97 press butt I'm sure I can pull an email that mentioned that as you picked this test out and I explained how I got it.
4th sorry for your lose bud. But as I took a few months to rethink as you put it... I too found out I have cancer. Simple routine surgey found out I have a soft tissue cancer that was nearly impossible for me to have with my background and it was stage 2 or 3 with spreading highly likely.....so for a good 2 months plus I was at hospital every day for about 3 months with body scans every month and daily radiation treatment since I refused chemo and all adictitive meds as well. Only good part of treatments they had a decent stereo system I used. since my treatments where same day and same time....nurses had either black Sabbath on or turning point for me....made 15mins to 30mins better.
All in all dude....no harm no foul on any side...yet a simple trades off letter or let's rethink this for I sent pics and kept upping your end from me and removing things I wanted as I was getting since I was finding same items faster elsewhere.
So yeah see my list again troy for maybe a deal will be made....and for the record 4 family members know my constant ache and pains I have daily as well as chronic pain in arm / wrist that as led to a $20,000 loss in my $$$$ each of the the past 2 work years ability and also maybe 10 or so people at work know why I was gone from work so long.
So maybe now 100 know my side.... But I'm hanging in there and have my muzik to be motivated....but on the bright side I'm setting up a non-profit cancer foundation this and hope to aid as many people out there

wow... look what you've done Nico! Troy is one of the coolest dudes I have ever traded records with. We did some MAJOR LEAGUE trades in the past. Lots of classics switched continents there If I still enjoy collecting records now, after all these years it's because of lads like Troy, Marcus, Ian, Leigh and a whole lot of other cool guys I traded vinyl and became friends with..
