For the ones that don't come with one that is... I'm curious.

No. I just put it in a clear thick sleeve. I try to keep it as original as it is. I have some tests which have self made covers by the band (DTN, shook ones). I'll try to make pictures and post em here.

the short answer is yes, i do make my own test press covers. i summed it up in a previous post on the test press photo thread. heres what i said: Wat is the story behind this sleeve? Looks sick! its just me messing around. i had a promo poster from the record and cut it down and glued it to a stock dj cover. then i busted out some paint pens and added the 'test press' to the bottom part. im sure some would frown on it, but i dont care. i like my records to have sleeves, so i make them. ive never passed them off as original, and always let people that i have made them myself. ive made a bunch of them, but still have to make more. some are just simple black and white photo copies of the cover. others like this one i photoshop the cover and print out. i should add, that i never modify what i receive with my test press. everything is original. i do add things to protect the records, like dj sleeves. i enjoy making the cover, but then again, i enjoy doing stuff like that. some people dislike it, and thats cool. some people talk shit like kev finn, that fine too. to each their own.

The only time that I do make covers for the test presses is when I get the record only with no cover whatsoever. A lot of the tests just look the same so it's kind of boring. I am with Geoff on this one. If there's nothing I would make a cover. Not REV but a good example:

I made one once for a rain on the parade 7", but other than that, no.
However, for the only two rev tests i have i asked rev if they had spare sleeves laying about and both times they did, so those two are housed in regular sleeves. I don't think anyone could possibly frown on this.

(hope its going well for you)

I sometimes copy a regular sleeve for a test press, since some test press I own, don't even have something written on the labels or just the label name and a number.

I totally forgot Kevin Finn showed the Warzone Lion attacking a horse sleeve. I forgot what the Warzone logo looked like.

i don't get all crazy with making sleeves, but i've made a few "covers" that are basically just paper inserts........ the covers/ inserts i make are usually negative's of the original cover, so the colors are reversed or something to distinguish it from the others with "TEST PRESSING" labeled somewhere on the picture. it's mostly just so that when i'm (or somebody else) looking through my records they are recognizable. i could care less what people think, i would never try to pass a cover/insert that i made off as original, it's more for myself.
my Bold 7" test came with the "test pressing" sleeve, and my BOLD "speak out" 1st press test came with a sleeve with photocopied picture of a JOIN the FIGHT graphic glued to it.

I put tests in a thick DJ outer sleeve; the ones with a hole as large as the labels. I have plans to make test sleeves on several of my tests (and acetates) but haven't gotten around to doing that yet. I'm with Troy: it'll only be for myself, and would always say it's home-made if I were to sell any of them. Then again, if you sell such a cover honestly, the next owner could always pass it off as an original. So you need to be responsible when doing this. Maybe I'll add some text on the inside, in small font, that the cover was made by....etc. to prevent fraud in the future.

I like the idea of maken your own sleeves, helps with protection and makes them stand out when your going through the collection. I know it isn't rev, but I picked up some tests from ed at livewire records and asked him if he would make me some personalised test press sleeves for a couple of their releases. The was kind enough to make some kick ass sleeves.

not really a graphic work, but I made a "cut and paste" cover for a 1999-rebirth of HC comp. test:

Your face should be in that top banner instead of them GB 7"s. Awesome.

This is the 1st one I did and the 1st time playing with making a layout. It came out decent enough. I made the HWM logo transparent on a white backgroud and then overlayed it over the normal cover image - ala the Alachua 7".
