When I met Walter in the summer of '89 (on the Bold/GB tour), we got to talking about records, and he told me the stampers broke after the first press of the GB 7" and they had to remix the record, and if you listen closely, you can hear subtle differences in the mix between the black and yellow press. My assumption is that the press of 102 is actually a second press and that the stampers broke at record number 103 (but that is conjecture), thus resulting in 102 records that ended up with stamped labels. Not likely. Stampers tend to wear out after about 2000 records give or take. Also they wouldnt have started to press the second press with blank labels. More likely that GB had a show coming up and the records were not going to be done in time so they had a bunch of blank label copies done in a rush (something I've done a bunch of times and also why the date is stamped on the record, the same date as GB/Instead/Beyond in Buffalo NY)

riddle me this: how did people/Rev figure out that there are only 50-90 copies with the Warzone b-side label. How did they decide on that number? Well the few times I've pressed a record and the plant ran out of labels they always tell me when it happens and let me know how many copies Im short. The 2nd press was done at Rainbo Records who I've pressed with before and they would let you know. So someone at Rev was told at some point and would have had to give the pressing plant the go ahead to use different labels. Thanks for that answer, Dave.

The second press on yellow I got in the mail today has an interesting variation. One side of the insert is printed upside-down. Also I got what appears to be the 8th press, thin red letters, Matrix: A="HE THREW MY REST IN PIECES TAPE IN THE OCEAN" B="MULLBERRYS / RICHIES / VILLAGE FUCKIN' SLICE". However instead of the "hybrid lyric sheet it has the reversed photo insert.

I was about to continue my GB 7" collection posts on Instagram, but have been kinda busy so I didn't make it yesterday. Next week :-) I wonder how many variants I have now. There are a lot out there with many variations. But some could also be mix ups or left overs from other pressings. No one knows. So it will always be funny to see who has which combination. Also check all the different shades in blue of those later pressings...there are a lot!! That 2nd press yellow/red logo is still on my want list. And of course the /102, a lighter or darker yellow variation, and the yellow with Warzone label. The search continues....

It's not like they are going to struggle to sell this repress.

But I always wonder, that so many people went crazy about a 350 pressing. If REV made a blue SOIA pressing out of 500, no one really cares. If they made 350 with an alternate cover, everyone is going crazy and people are paying 200 bucks for it.

I think the answer is threefold. 1. The GB 7" hasn't suffered from a dozen represses as of late (aside from a million black copies) like SOIA or Burn so it's exciting to see a new clearly distinct press. 2. When something is clearly different (different cover) it gets attention. When it's hard to discern differences at a glance a unique press/variant can go unnoticed and keep the cost/awareness of the record down. For years you could pick up a Yellow Together with someone selling it as an Orange as they were similar enough to get confused with each other. Now, forget it. 3. GB is popular as all hell. Rev's best selling band so makes sense people are after it.

The variations on the GB and SOIA was all Conne Island and the Burn stuff was done by the band. People ive talked to at Rev are actually annoyed about all the variants

This is an old post but if anyone could answer this I'd appreciate it. Is 25 just a rough estimate for the second press on cream? Also does anyone have it and could post a photo? I recently picked up a yellow copy from a friend and it's pretty creamy. Wanted to compare.

A lot of people on here are having trouble posting photos because of the whole Photobucket nazi thing (for some unexplained reason my photos are still visible and I haven't given them a cent). I'm not sure if you're using the mobile version or the desktop version of this board but on the actual desktop version there is a nice banner that runs across the top depicting the transitions you'd like to see. If you're using the mobile version just switch over to "desktop" and you'll see what I mean. Nice to see you here Dan. You're the man!

There has to be more than 25ish of these floating around, right? Cause the one I just got matches the far left. And good to see you on here!

That's certainly not a definite number but there can't be too many of them and there are some that are lighter than others. I'd love to see a pic of it. If you can't post one here you should post one on Instagram...
