This entry will take a day or so to sort out... so many versions!
Gorilla Biscuits
s/t : 7"
Revelation # 4 1988
Test Press
Black vinyl - Stamped white labels.
**NB 1st, 2nd and 3rd press's of this Gorilla Biscuits release come with one of three lyric sheets. Of these three versions, two are the most common. The 3rd version might have been an error. The early press’s tend to have the “Hollowed” Gorilla Biscuits font and the later press’s tend to have the “Filled” Gorilla Biscuits font.
1st Press
Black vinyl - Blue letters on sleeve. Blank white and yellow labels, numbered 01-102.
Black vinyl - Blue letters on sleeve.
Test Press
8 Black vinyl - Rainbow labels
**NB. When the 2nd press was pressed on yellow vinyl the record plant used yellow and white to make the mix. The white in the vinyl gives the yellow an opaque look, without the white in the mix the vinyl looks more like a translucent yellow. When the first batch of records came out, there was a higher level of white in the mix, therefore a handful of records actually came out looking a creamy off white colour rather than yellow. Towards the end of the press there seems to be less white in the mix, therefore the record looks darker or slightly translucent due to the lack of white in the vinyl.
**NB. Towards the end of the 2nd press the record plant ran out of B-side labels and sleeves. Therefore the WarZone b-side label for the 3rd pressing of Lower East Side Crew was used and some of the 2nd press came with a red font letter sleeve instead. Which ran out first can be debated, but 50-90 have the WarZone b-side. And some of the regular yellow press’s have the red letter sleeve. Also to make this press even more complicated some of the WarZone b-sides have a number stamp on the dust sleeve. One theory is that Revelation records sent out a batch of these records without knowing about the defect. When they did find out about the defect they stamped the reaming few they had. Also it is thought that the first batch that was sent out before the defect was noticed was sent to record stores in Europe. This explains why a lot of people in Europe picked up this version in stores without knowing about the error.
