A few years ago this forum was one of the hottest places to be on the web (well if you were a rev collector) these days its like a ghost town. Where did everyone go? Is there another bigger better forum that everyone has moved to?

I'm missing those days quite a bit. Just daily posts, new threads, new info. Pictures of collections. I guess it went all downwards together with the Instagram-booming-period.
What also didn't help is that, apparently, this board is full and no more pictures can be uploaded. That's a problem. Had we known that from the start....then another board would have been better.
The Photobucket-crisis was another big issue..

To be honest, I think messageboards are dead. People under 25 barely know what that is. Bridge 9 - gone. Poisonfree (German based) - gone. There's one hardcore/punk related messageboard still sort of going in Germany, but the age average of users is probably 40+, or at least in the late 30s. Couple of dudes in Germany tried to get a new messageboard (TheIntroMosh) running in 2019, but it was basically dead within a few months. World's moved on from that concept.

We talked about moving this to somewhere else fairly recently but I'm not sure if there's a need or interest anymore. What do you want me to do? Open new one? Start a thing on Facebook? I don't have a clue. It's a little sad as the amount of information gathered here is definitely worth a lot as far as collecting goes.

I think Ralf is spot on. Message boards are old and nobody uses them anymore. As much as this thing was cool in the past, I think it has had its day. The main highlight was always the photos, but Photobucket ruined that, and instagram kinda ticks that box now.
That said, stuff gets lost on instagram in the infinite feed. Sometimes I want to see a pic that I remember but I have little chance of finding it if I can't remember who posted it. So if there was a way to preserve the pics from this board somehow then that would be cool... although I imagine most are now lost.
EDIT - even my avatar has been ruined by Photoshop. Kinda sums it up really!

i think people are to busy with other stuff or mostly instagram.
i created long ago a group on Facebook called The Record Nerds. its the same there. pretty much dead but surpricingly tons of new members lately. so feel free to join and kickstart that shit there. but i think, this board here is still important to many. i check it at least once a week to see whats new. even if there isnt much news here. its all basically covered elsewhere on IG?

Not Dischord, Discord.
Discord is a proprietary freeware VoIP application and digital distribution platform designed for video gaming communities, that specializes in text, image, video and audio communication between users in a chat channel.

Even if messageboards may be obsolete for communication and posting pictures, their archive function would still be pretty valuable. Not only for pressing info for records, but for shows, flyers, trends and controversies at any give time, entertainment, shit even (vegan) recipes. 80s and 90s hardcore is pretty well documented in form of zines, but for the (later) 00s and 10s were more present online than in print form. And yes, there are still websites running from the mid 2000s till now and the Internet doesn’t forget, but it’s not the same. I get why the people running boards like TheB9 or Poisonfree decided to shut them down, but man, I miss them.

Being able to post pictures is a must though, and it must be as future proof as possible... With that I mean that it shouldn’t be dependent of one person who “owns” the site/domain/ whatever.. I’m not in this alone. I hope.
