Fuck...
I can't put my thoughts into any coherent sentences right now.
I'll just say that a MAJOR item got crossed off my bucket list.
Fuck...
Some pictures tomorrow. I'll have to sleep this off now.

After the first time (Saarbrücken show), I was a little bit disappointed because the expectations were too high. The 2nd show in Cologne was great, in my opinion.

Have seen them 3 times now I think...
I'm wondering: have they ever played the 2 songs that were exclusively on the Chung King LP? Those are Holding On and No Apologies.
If you ask me, those are pretty decent songs, but I can't recall seeing them on any of the live sets they played. Is there a reason for that?
And on another level...I don't understand why bands like Judge (and also Gorilla Biscuits and YOT) haven't made make a few new songs in all those years of "reunion shows".
This is not 1-2 years down the line anymore, first time I saw them was in 2013. Six years.

Question is, do you really want new Judge songs?

Question is, do you really want new Judge songs? Only if they want to make new songs, and if they think the songs are Judge-worthy. I think they could pull off making 2-4 new songs, maybe a full LP is too much to ask/want/expect... But it shouldn’t be about what I want, or the “fans”, the “kids”, the scene.....or even RavenxArmy 😄

Playing live shows for 6 years under a reunion-flag is a bigger risk if you ask me. Seeing them in 2013 was great, but I’m not so excited anymore now. If it were my band, I’d probably only want to do it in combination with a few new songs. But hey, I don’t play in Judge haha They can easily add a few extra songs to their 35-40 min sets, no need to replace the hits live.

Porcelly wrote so many songs, he's the best song writer in hc. Would be awesome a new judge 7". But he also doing yoga, have a family, and constantly plays shows all around the world...hard to find the time to write new stuff for both judge and yot i guess

Seeing them in 2013 was great, but I’m not so excited anymore now. I think that has changed. In 2019 reunions are rather the norm than the exception and the stigma of being a reunion band is not as bad as it used to be. That's not necessarily my opinion, just my observation. Also, I feel bands have a certain time and place. If GB or Judge wanted to write new songs under their original name 25-30 years after their break up, it'd be weird imho. If you want to make new music, cool, but just start a different band.

But he also doing yoga, have a family, and constantly plays shows all around the world...hard to find the time to write new stuff for both judge and yot i guess Porcell wrote some good songs in his time. Also some better songs. And some truly epic songs. That's beyond any dispute. But (yes, there was a "but" coming) he also wrote some highly questionable songs, ie some not entirely thought through Shelter tracks or that one full of marmite, purple 7". Also you need to take into the account the fact that Porcell is only half of Judge. Mike's writing arguably did not improve with time, at least in loosely defined "hardcore terms" it didn't. So it's not exactly a question of "if Porcell does it then it's gonna be great." It's more like "If there were to be some new Judge songs, there are good chances they might be great. But not necessarily". If they made something sounding like the 2nd Strife lp for example, which since it came out, I always fantasized that it was what the next Judge record could have sounded like, that would have been lovely. But in more realistic terms, considering the recent creative output of the pair of them, would anyone really want Judge to sound like bad Shelter with Neal Young inspired lyrics? Didn't think so

i will see Judge the 5th time in september when they play zürich. the first european show in berlin was awesome and the best i have seen of them. i just expected more from mike. in all the old live sets he speaks a few words inbetween songs and he did not say more than five words in the whole sets i have seen so far. i said that one day i wanna bock Judge in zürich and i can't believe that i managed to do that. its like a dream come true. and they play in the smallest venue that they probably ever played. that show will destroy!
new songs... i wonder how new judge would sound. lets not forget that GB wrote new songs. The At the Matinee 7" contains 2 new tracks. hence that nobody mentioned that, its not worth mentioning.
i heard that judge where or are writing new material but more of a side project or a new band thing but they kinda stopped it because they all live too far away from eachother. mikes wife told me that at some point.
and what i kinda thought was, that the World Be Free material might have been that stuff but mike dropped out as a singer? what do you think? its my thought and neither fact nor a rumour.

I listened to an interview with CIV and actually At The Matinee is a new song, the b-side is a song that they wrote back in the days when they did their first demo.

Come to think of it, there are only very few bands that released good records after they reunited. Descendents and Lifetime come to mind. And Minor Threat if that counts. But apart from that? The latest Refused LP sucked so bad and I didn‘t like any of the new Burn material. Any other good reunion records?

Any other good reunion records? The Lifetime LP might possibly be the best comeback record of all, if I had to pick just one. But I came up with a list of decent records that I believe are technically 'reunion' or 'comeback' records. Granted, they're not all 'hardcore' records, but I don't think that matters: By A Thread ‘s/t’ LP Coalesce ‘Ox’ LP Into Another ‘Omens’ EP Dag Nasty ‘Minority Of One’ LP Dinosaur Jr ‘Beyond’ LP (& all of the others since!) Fall Silent ‘Cart Return’ 7” Guns N Roses ‘Chinese Democracy’ LP No Warning 'Torture Culture' LP Rival Schools 'Pedals' LP Shook Ones 'Body Feel' LP Sunny Day Real Estate 'How It Feels To Be Something On' What's interesting is that the number of years between some of these bands breaking up and coming back with these records is less than the number of years between some band's records who never broke up. So, for example, there were only 2 years between the last Sunny Day Real Estate record and their reunion/comeback album. But I don't believe that Ignite have ever technically broken up, but in 25 years they've only put out (I think) 4 albums.

I was thinking the same thing...the timing sort of fits, Sammy plays in WBF and they choose a “tough guy/rough guy” singer to front the band. Personnaly I don’t like Scott’s vocals much. He’s over the top all the time, and the impact of the vocals just dies due to that.

Question is, do you really want new Judge songs? I was at the 30th Anniversary show of Bringin it Down in brooklyn in August. Purcell told me he had just written the 1st new Judge song in 30 Years. No idea if it will ever be released, but it’s written.
