I only really have Belle and Sebastian / God Help the Girl right now. Probably most of what they released on vinyl. I used to have nearly all of the Smiths / Morrisey and the Divine Comedy but I sold it all at one point and when I tried to buy it back, as I do, the prices doubled, tripled and quadrupled so I gave up.
Now, few years ago I was watching Richard Dawkins interview on some Swedish (?) TV where they also had Brandon Flowers as one of the guests. The Swedish host wasted no time and about a minute into the interview he pitted Dawkins against Flowers. Long story short, Dawkins mopped the floor with Flowers every which way possible and left me wondering who the fuck was that Brandon muppet??
A google search later I discovered The Killers.
I watched a bunch of clips on yt and despite the fact that Flowers has a bag of nails for brains, I genuinely got to like the band. Fast forward to today and I'm seriously considering buying their records. The only thing that's holding me back are those fucking prices. It seems like everything is in the $100~$200 range. I'm on the fence.
Does any of you buy anything non-punk? WHAM!? Shakin Stevens? Limahl perhaps?? Do tell...

Killers records have always been weirdly expensive. Their biggest record, "Hot Fuss"just got a repress, so you should be able to walk in a store and get it for $20ish. If you absolutely MUST have the original pressing of a record that cane out in 2004, and feel the $100+ price difference is worth it to you, that's on you.
Imo, that's why "collecting,"or let's just call it paying significantly above retail, for post 90s mainstream/coachella rock is a fools errand. The only reason these records are so expensive is because they were released in a time when vinyl wasn't particularly popular. Just be patient and all this crap will come back into print.

I collect Lemonheads, Juliana Hatfield, Blake Babies, Magnapop etc. but it's nothing compared to some other bands and artists I collect. Dobek, if you are looking for some cool Killers pics check Jasper's Instagram account. http://instagram.com/p/-XGo9CwKN8

Grew up in a house full of records. My father is a heavy collector. Early rock and roll: Little Richard, Sun Records, Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, etc. I'm a huge Beatles fan. My older sister was an influence. Introduced me to The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order, 10,000 Maniacs, etc. I'm a huge R.E.M. fan. Back in the day, there were a lot of hardcore kids in Boston who were into graffiti, hip-hop, underground electronic dance music. I was one of those kids. I'm a fan/dj of deep/tech house music. I worked at Newbury Comics (record store) in Boston area. Met a lot of great people. Heard a lot of great music: international, jazz, etc. Pop music is sometimes good.
There's good and bad music in every genre.

Johnny Cash and Everlast records and classic 90s Hip Hop/Rap records. Also modern Hip Hop/Rap records that I like.

I used to buy a lot of hip hop stuff. I still buy the occasional thing but I'm pretty out of the loop with the new stuff also for me, it was at it's peak during the 90's. I have a few funk LPs as well as some soundtracks. I listen to a variety of different stuff outside of HC. I don't obsessively collect it like I do with HC but I still buy the odd thing.

Pearl Jam. I have a semi complete collection of their stuff. Much of it goes for more than some Rev 1-20 stuff. Sometimes I think i'd rather complete my PJ collection than own a complete Rev 1-20 collection. Sometimes i think otherwise haha.
