Do people still collect Champion? I mean, after the whole "Jim Hesketh" scandal last year, it feels strange for me to buy any of their records. There are a few I'm missing on eBay right now and they're sitting very cheap.

Champion records did drop in value a lot since then.
I also noticed that after Jim, Sweet Pete got a lot of heat but it didnt affect In My Eyes records at all.

I still collect them. I have also noticed a lot of people selling them with a drop in value. I understand their reasons but I refuse to disrespect the other members of the band by turning my back on them and their great music. Let's not forget all of the positivity and how many kids were influenced by this great band. The negative actions by one member that occurred unbeknownst to the rest of the band shouldn't complete tarnish their legacy.
BUT... I can definitely understand why some people feel the way that they do. It's a worthy discussion for sure.

Champion wrote great music, and released a straight edge hardcore milestone like Promises Kept, the greatness of their music can't be denied. I have no problem in still listening them, by the same token one should feel not comfortable in listening to - say - Judge or Gorilla Biscuits, because they have songs abount straight edge and being drug free, and then have some bandmembers that live a different lifestyle nowadays. If we pretend 100% "purity" in the ethics of the bands that we listen to, that should be a general rule for everybody. Said this, I have no sympathy for what the singer did, I can't condone it. But CHAMPION still rule !

What did Sweet Pete get heat for? Same shite? Fiddling with toddlers? And bandmembers did not know about this? Ah, the sweet taste of success and blindfolds and so on...

While on the subject of kiddie fucking, I re-read Nabokov's Lolita some 2 years ago. Controversial content aside, it is beautifully written. That sneaky fucking Russian had an impressive command of English. I wonder, had he lived today, would his research for the book include interviewing prominent members of the catholic clergy as well as random selection of Hardcore vocalists? I'm pretty sure the original book would benefit greatly if Humbert Humbert texted Dolores every now and then with promises of hot baths together.
Someone please make bootleg Promises Kept T-shirts that say on the back: JIMMY SAVILE LIVES. That or a Time Slips Away shirt with GARY GLITTER IS GOD... on the back
