I'm curious what the Rev Collectors here do for a living. Shelling out a couple of hundred bucks for a piece of plastic every now and then must/could mean you have a well paying job. And some may even not be living at their parent's anymore, possibly have a girlfriend, wife, children. So what does the Rev Collector, true hardcore/punkrocker keepin' it real at night, do during the day?

I'm a civil servant here in the UK. It's not great money but since I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, drive a car or have any kids (none that I'm aware of anyway) I do have a bit of spare income although this year buying big items has taken a bit of a backseat as I've had other priorities and also the £pound getting thrashed hasn't helped either. I still buy loads of records of course but I just haven't been picking up expensive ones lately.

I am an employee working in the business travel industry. Can't really complain about my job, so far it's stable, and I don't work on weekends and holidays. When I didn't have a family I could afford spending big money on records.

I'm a tenured teacher at the highest school form of secondary education in Germany. Pay is above average and I get automatic raises every few years. I'm married without kids, so I enjoy all the tax breaks at the moment, too. I'm sure I could have had a job that pays better, but I like having holidays every 6-8 weeks.

I've been a cabinetmaker for 13 years, CNC machinist for 3 years prior to that. For the past 3-4 years I've been a CNC programmer for a large cabinet/millwork shop. Working on casinos, resorts, universities, fancy restaurants. I'm able to build and create lots interesting things. I, also, invented a woodworking product for Fastcap. I have a cool, high-stress job. I've been collecting hardcore records since 1987. As well as other music. I'm married with two young kids in a house outside of Pittsburgh. It's hard to buy records lately because of that.
My father is a serious record collector (R&B, Doo-Wop, Rock-A-Billy, Rock and Roll, Jazz from 50's & 60's). He says all the old collectors are old and dying out. All the collectible, expensive records are punk and hardcore. no one buying the early stuff.

Does that imply that the value of those records your father owns is decreasing? Interesting trend if that's the case.

That has been going one for Elvis records for almost a decade now. Only a few are raising or staying up but the rest has dropped a lot in recent years.

I was actually thinking about this: If all the people who actually want this stuff, get too old or too dead to actually make effort to actively pursue and find the records, the prices will be bound to drop. I'm almost certain that in 60 years, the Chung King will still be sitting at $6000 which after the Trump administration will be equal to about 6000 Italian Liras...

Instead of hunting for Buddy Holly and Little Richard records, my 72 year-old father's looking for Misfits singles.

I could had a pizza and a sprite with 6000 lire in the 90's ! Good times Back to this thread, I'm a printer. It's cool since I can create some alternate covers for my personal collection! I still have a couple of expensive record In my want list but my son come first!

I work as a development engineer in a german medium-sized enterprise. Since I have two kids and my own house, it is a mission impossible to buy any old and expensive records for my collection. So I am satisfied with the stuff I own and that´s it. I am glad that I bought many good stuff during 2000 and 2008 when the prices were arguable and the shipping rates from the States to Europe low!

I'm a postie working for Royal Mail. I start early and finish early which is cool. it's a stress free job with an average pay but I usually do a lot of extra work. The good thing is that I manage to do that overtime within my duty time so don't have stay out longer. I walk about 10 miles a day listening to music. I can't complain.
