Every now and then there are descriptions of records, shirts that just stand above the rest. Be it with a great historic story, loads of humour or just crazy sentences, it brings anything from a grin to a good and healthy laugh. You want to type LOL, ROFL or LMAO somewhere as a reaction, or share it with others.
Feel free to post funny descriptions here, HC or non-HC...
And can someone tell me what a "smoke free home" does to a record? Thanks.

I'll start off with a "Guided By Voices" LP auction that ended at $990. I have no idea what this band sounds like. Not yet...
1992 was a great year! • In January, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is proclaimed by the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. Party time! • Pakistan beats the sh*t out of England and wins the Cricket World Cup for the very first time, increasing worldwide interest in the Cricket World Cup by a smashing 0.02%! • The stone cold classic Sam Raimi movie " Army of Darkness" is released and opened a debate still much discussed today, on the injustice of Bruce Campbell not receiving his owed Oscar.
But more than anything, that glorious year will be marked by the release of " Propeller" by GUIDED BY VOICES, " The greatest rock and roll band of all time"
And an original copy is now on sale here.
If you're reading this, you probably already know everything about this epic release, stuff like :
- it's super limited to 500 copies. - it contains the interstellar super hits " Weed King", " Lethargy", " Some Drilling Implied". - one (1) copy has burn down in a house fire in 2004 or something, so it's like limited to 499 now. - all copies have different handmade covers.
!!MORE FACTS!! - holding a copy will increase your coolness level by 1000% the first year, then an extra 25% every year after. - you will officially become one of the very few GBV hardcore fan with a Platinum status, that even a GBV rune tattoo on your forehead won't give you.
About this copy - it's number 375/500, a number that is, in my humble opinion, really awesome. - it is in pristine condition, still in shrink-wrap, carefully preserved all those years. - never played, because my shitty turntable doesn't deserve to play such collectible vinyl gem.
Why am I selling it? Because life sucks and I've unfortunately reached that adult level where I cannot chose anymore between this rock 'n roll monolith and monthly bills...

im a huge fan of smoke free homes for records. every single time i won a record from japan, it would stink of an 50 year old ashtray. it was nasty. i would have to air them out for months. i even won one that had yellowed from the smoke. just nasty.

I once bought an LP at DISK UNION that had a warning on the price label that it stinks of fags lol. It really did. I also once bought a used carry case/puch/whatever for a NIKON speedlight and it had to hang out on the balcony for like 3 weeks. Smoking is annoying..

Hehehe...
I am always happy to receive your Wants Lists, but I sometimes file them carefully under bits of paper, which are in turn put under slightly larger pieces of paper, that aren't always where I thought I had left them. This could be blamed on incompetence on my part, but I prefer to blame it on the pixies that clearly infest my shop and move things about after I have gone home, the little bastards.
However, I will do my very best to find what you want a) immediately b) the day after you have found it elsewhere or c) about a year after you have quite frankly lost the will to live.

I have not run into any crooks over the years, while buying on Discogs, although once instead of semi christan, zao side project and pre juliana theory band Pensive I got ANAL CUNT CD. I had a lot of fun and pleasure to repeat that bandname in the exchanged communication with the seller. Of course we were able to work that out, and everything ended up well

i can appreciate the "from a smoke-free home"aspect but a lot of ebay listings go as far to say stuff like "from a smoke free/temperature contolled/pet free/child free home"...that sounds a pretty joyless existence to me!

I will dare say this might positively qualify as (or certainly come very close to) an oxymoron.
That doesn't necessarily make this seller a moron ox.

You know your vinyl is safe when you place it in the hands of the Swedes.
Taken from a seller on Ebay:
"Smoke free, air conditioned home, Ikea shelves"

I've def had a bunch of records from Japan stink like smoke and/or have yellowed sleeves from it i bought three AF Boots from the same seller and they smelled like a fucking ashtray. i took out the innersleeves, took same perfume from my ex and sprayed on the innersleeve, let it dry and assembled the records again. since then, i only smell the perfume but the scent changed a bit so its a mix between perfume and old basement scent.
