The definite best record from WORKSHED is the Headfirst EP! STAND is one of the most powerful and authentic HC-songs of ALL time!

FUN FACTS: **** Mission Impossible and Blackout apparently had an argument over who was going to release their record on Workshed first (and so become Workshed #8). The label/Dan subsequently decided (in an Animal Farm-stylish fashion of "all bands are equal") to make BOTH of the releases Workshed number 8! Awesome. And why the hell not?
**** Test pressings at first came with blank white labels (WS #1-5 at least), most with handwriting on them. Later releases (WS # 7-9) came with the "Cargo Records" labels. Pressing plant switch? Possibly. I don't have info on the Headfirst LP test labels.
The 411 discography has the blank white labels again.

@ Nico the 411 discography test has WS 11 written on it, not WS 10.

FUN FACTS:
****Workshed Records founder Dan O’Mahoney on designing the label’s iconic logo: “I designed it in 1987 using a xerox machine to keep distressing the details in a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. speaking only weeks before his death. In the 1980’s he was a bigger influence on some of the Orange County and So Cal DIY cornerstones than we seem to remember… think the HS Face Reality cover, think the End Racism merch out of San Diego, think the moral ascendancy so many of us strove for at such an early age and understand that courage and sacrifice like his demands that some degree of that values system remain present in us today.”
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. –Martin Luther King, Jr. -
****The first name chosen for Hard Stance was actually "Discrepancy" (like the song) and the very first REAL show under that name was played at U.C.I. =University of California Irvine. The band thought they totally sucked. The band played with a band with the Hayworth brothers in it that came down from Northern California (name?). They never went back up north and ended up staying with their mom in Irvine. They then joined Hard Stance after Pat Brown (first bassplayer) quit because he wanted to get in Shelly Burgers...
****During most of the later Hard Stance shows, they would all switch instruments and play a song or two. Zach would then often sing.
****Hard Stance was "put to sleep" when the singer went off to college and the drummer was heading off to truckdriving school. The bassplayer joined Gorilla Biscuits briefly when he moved to the East Coast.

@ Nico the 411 discography test has WS 11 written on it, not WS 10. Adjusted. I didnt even notice it myself. That 411 test is actually my copy. Fun fact: Also Marc Hard Stance played bass for GB on their first European tour. Marc gave his Inside Out demo shirt to Walter before that tour. Walter traded that shirt with Big of ManLiftingBanner and he gave it to me.

BIC is great. The red one appears to be a natural variant of the purple, i.e., a bad mix of vinyl pellets to get purple. My black copy has a cargo records sticker on the back, while the others do not.

this thread rules so hard. anyone have good mission impossible photos of the different shades and transparencies of the purple vinyl? workshed has so many variants. im not talking about normal color pressings, im talking variants being only a couple existing. really impressive collections here!

Love the Bill Bailey beard. Was that a general trand in the late 80s / early 90s? I remember CIV doing the same thing to his face around that time
