I have no idea if this thread is gonna pick up on this board but I have just watched something amazing so now I want to rumble on about it. I used to watch a ton of films a week but in the past few years I dropped down to a couple a month. Recently I decided to try and cross off a few things off my long, long, looooooong and outdated watch list.
This week I saw In Bruges.
I never gave two shits about Colin Farrel (since I saw Alexander and got brain herpes from it) but I love that Brendan Gleeson lad (The Guard was a rager) so I gave it a go. I will have to reconsider my position on Farrel I think. Both lads went head to head in this film. Watching in Bruges was million times better than listening to that new Strife record Paolo is giving away. It's so difficult to make a film that's incredilbly funny and yet strangely moving. Oh yeah, did I mention that Ralph Fiennes is in it in what seems to be the best performance of his entire hit and miss carreer? No? There you go.
---
I'm gonna go and grab some food from the fridge now and go back to watching The Trip. I just went through the 1st 28min long episode and still can't stop giggling like a little girl. It looks like it's gonna be a good one. I'll drop a line when I'm done with the entire season.
So far it's seems it's gonna be a deep well of pure TV gold!!

As far as television goes, there's only one thing that matters: Gilmore girls. Nothing else matters

I can't remember a single movie that made a lasting impression in the last 12 months. I don't think I even went to the cinema in the last 6 months or so.
When it comes to series, there is a lot more to follow these days. My current favorites are Bates Motel and The Leftovers. I love the freakishness and slight nod towards Twin Peaks in both series.

Did I hear someone say Twin Peaks? I'm going to download the pilots for each of the series mentioned and check them out.
Nico, do yourself a favour and watch In Bruges. It will only take the time you need to listen to the complete Minor Threat discography twice. It's worth it.

Seriously though, although I'd been turned off by the title initially I got quite hooked on this show when I watched it with my girlfriend over the last months. The best movie I've seen this year was Grand Hotel Budapest by far.

By the way, the series that were consistently good and I enjoyed every season so far: Boardwalk Empire I also enjoyed the Sherlock series. The Killing was also good. Shame they killed it so soon.
Things I have on my phone but haven't gotten round to yet: House of Cards American Horror Story
I spend 1-3 hrs on trains a day commuting. That plus the time when I pretend to work but don't allows me to watch some 3-6 episodes a day without any interferrence with my actual free time lol

did anybody watch that mini series FARGO? check it out! its great! I downloaded Boardwalk empire so i can watch all of it on a rainy Weekend i don't like to go to the movie-theater anymore. maybe because most films are dubbed in german(is it dubbed?) mostly there are no good movies on tv anymore. i wonder why? german as well as swiss tv prefere to show how a stupid bachelor hookes up with 20 even more stupid girls or shit like bauer ledig sucht (poor farmer hillbilly looking for a wifey) so i also watch lots of series like Walking Dead, Rizzoli & Isles, Cold Case, Rules of Engagement, Big Bang Theory and probably 100s more and lots of Documentaries. i kinda got hooked on Wallander. its like germans tatort but in swedish. do you know him? good stuff.

Anyone use Letterboxd.com? It's great for cataloging movies that you watch. You can also follow others to see what they are watching and how they are rating movies.

I need to revive this thread because I can't wait for the series 3 of the PEAKY BLINDERS to get on the telly... The best TV ever made. Bar none.
Watching series 3 of VIKINGS now as well. It's pretty cool as well.

HAHA Leigh, did you get the package? Try Peaky Blinders It will blow your mind. I haven't got it yet. But I will shoot you a email once I get it. I will also check out Peaky Blinders. I have Netflix now so ive been watching some comedy series and some stand up comedy. I'm pretty far behind the times when it comes to TV these days, but if I find something that I like I flog it to death. Like me and Workaholics. That show is my spirit animal.

I just noticed this thread, as far as I'm concerned there are only two shows on TV: Walking Dead (how has no one mentioned this already?) the new season is about to start Oct 11th, and on Netflix The Killing. There's only 4 seasons but the first two are AMAZING!

Finished with The Fall, it was brilliant.
Just watched two eps of Penny Dreadful. If you're familiar with all the Victorian creepy literature. Mary Shelley, Wilde's Dorian Gray etc. mixed with vamp hunting you might enjoy this.
