Regan, has this FWF test press on a paper sleeve with handwritten black pen on the dust sleeve saving out of /4? Sorry about the delay, i read this a while ago but totally forgot to respond. Anyways they are not blank labels they are rainbow labels, no numbering or hand writing. But the test press is now sold.

I know what you mean, like for instant have heart collecting, as a collector I don't really have a line, for instance if there was a ridiculous re-press of the Brotherhood 7" (I never hope that happens) i would still try and collect them all. So for me there is no 'line' just individual basis for each record. But for a record label I think labels like react! are fine, above that is getting a bit ridiculous.

I don't really have a problem with the way labels like react! put out records; about 3 colours plus maybe a pre-order. And generally the band will do a record release cover or something.
You also have to remember that it would be virtually impossible for record labels to exist in this day and age to lessen record colours as most of them just get by at the moment. I mean if I really like the band I will try and collect everything, if there is too many variation or you just want to check out the band, then don't order multiple copies. (though this may seem like a crazy idea to many of you lol).
But there will always be variants with colours, look at the GB 7" on yellow, people go crazy trying to find different shades of yellow. Also there will also be 'transition' presses, like the bold 7". Though most bands now seem to give them a stamp or something to indicate an 'official' transition press. Also not to mention aborted tests and presses.
Call me crazy but I don't really have a problem with any of this, sure it can be frustrating when you find out about anther super rare record you had no idea existed for your collection, but isn't that part of the fun of collecting? I mean no one is forcing you to track down that super rare record out of 3, but if that's what you want to spend your free time and money on, more power to ya.

Well there is a SOIA s/t 7" first press on eBay at the moment. The best advise I can give in regards to rev 8 is ask all the sellers on eBay what the matrix says, you will get it much cheaper if it's not advertised as a first press, which most aren't.
Also did you mean Bold Speak out with blue labels (not cover) yeah?
I'm sure you won't have any issues finding the rest of your wants.
Also check out Dobek's records, might have some dischord stuff you need.

yeah. that BID on green went up in the last few auctions. its crazy. but the soia first press was once at 315 or something. crazy. oh, i would like to get a soia first press, if somebody has a spare one Yeah with the SOIA first presses there was definitely a couple that went for high amounts, never understood why, bought my copy, number 0083 for around $40 i think a year ago. But that BID just makes no sense, either someone REALLY wanted a copy ASAP or it will be re-lised in the next couple weeks.

Anyone see that the Judge BID on green went for $520 and the SOIA first press went for $150... Crazy times to be a record collector.

Went to IKEA on Friday, finally bought myself a proper shelf for my records! This is in my lounge room coz i like to actually listen to my records at home, not just store them away Yes, yes i know what your thinking... 'these are just your doubles right? doesn't everyone have 50000 records?' no these are all my records lol, my plan is when i fill up the top row the bottom cupboards will be for my 7".

Yeah low offers can be a pain, I actually find lowball trades worse than sales. I've had some really poor offers for my Minor Threat s/t first press and my Project x 7" with zine. Had offers for these records for things like GB LP on red or chain confusion sleeve. Records that are no way near the same value. But I always try and reply with a no thanks, or alternate offer if the other person actually has something I really want. I mean I've had my emails ignored for what seems like a fair price/trade but I guess the seller wasn't interested but I don't take it personally.

That's crazy, never heard of the black and white insert! Just went to look at my 2 copies with maroon sleeves (one black one orange vinyl) and realised i had a miss printed insert on with the black vinyl i totally forgot about. So as you can see this miss print here that looks like was just cut incorrectly by the side with the lyrics is printed correctly, so its a printing, not cutting error.

Ian, I looked through your list. Too many things that I want. Is your SOIA red with regular cover or photocopied one? I saw in your TOP 5 wants you have Lexicon Devil 7" I have 2 mint and unplayed copies (with yellow and pink cover) I sold one on ebay recently for over a grand (wow) except that the cunt never paid. I'd trade whichever one of the two for the BOLD blue cover Dobek, are you seriously offering a $500 record for a $5 record or is there some joke I missed?

Of course, the fact this is coming from Porcell makes this copy very appealing to buyers... I know what you write above occurs in real life and is a confirmed fact (see Jeff Nelson's auctions) but someone please explain to me how a record sold by a band member is "more appealing" I care about the condition of a record or (whenever it applies) about the nostalgic value. If I had a choice of picking up a minty copy of United Blood from a Hardcore Joe out of Texas or a beat up copy "signed and certified" that it comes from the "Stigma Collection" I would have absolutely no doubts which one I wanna go for. Assuming both were in the same price range. If they were both of the same condition but one of them significantly cheaper I'd pick the cheaper one. Previous owner factor plays absolutely no role in my criteria of buying vinyl. It kind of hurts me that hc/punk has been brought to the level of Backstreet Boys mentality where you pay off the bouncers to let you go backstage to get the bands autographs on your knockers. I respect people for their creative output but this is borderline idol worship and that nonsense has no place in my reality. I tend to agree with you, however in both this instance and Jeff Nelson's case the records are in absolute mint condition, i mean in Jeff's auction he even stated that they always kept the best copies for themselves. This copy of CCME being sold looks super clean. Which is definitely part of the reason the prices have skyrocketed. But i think you might be right and it's not just their condition but who is selling it, but i guess that is just the way it goes.
