because GB and SOIA have good relationship to Conne Island and especially SOIA play there everytime when they are touring Germany. this is what i have heard too. (there had to be lots of encouragement from someone there to actually get the band request that.) It just seems like an odd precedent to set since now the Charleston, SC or Truth or Consequences, NM crews could conceivably ask to have their own pressings of the records too – right? Or if Conne Island is the only crew that gets their own edition, that seems a little elitist.

I've asked this several times before but I'll keep asking because it's never been answered.....why does Conne Island get the privilege of doing their own versions of Rev releases? And if the GB is a fundraiser, wouldn't it make sense to press more.....to raise more funds?

The difference is that you obviously bought several copies of the GB 7"s with the sole intention of immediately flipping them to try to get records much older and more expensive. Your original post doesn't ask to trade the GB for anything recent, you're asking for Together, Start Today, PX etc or you're offering it for sale for much, much more than you paid for it. Of course you know this but you're just arguing semantics.

I have an extra copy of BDTW for sale or trade, it's the second press on Rev with the catalog numbers printed on the record label. No idea how many were pressed but these don't come up too often. Will sell or looking for a few things tradewise....BT1K value driven, Shelter 20 summers, Quicksand 7" on gold, Crippled Youth 7". Can add some cash in if trading to make a fair deal.

Anyone have a BDTW on We Bite with black labels they'd be willing to sell?

Holy crap! This just arrived. I bought two golds (which were identical) on ebay and then grabbed a third from Core Tex in Germany. All arrived today and the Core Tex one is the orange/transition color. Here's another pic plus one with the transition against one of the golds:

Got a spare copy of DFTS later press on Caroline/Fist that I'm looking to sell or possibly trade. Blue Caroline labels, includes insert. Vinyl is fine but the sleeve is VG with a couple of small creases and a spine split (probably three-quarters of an inch in size). $70 shipped in the US. Can send photos if anyone is interested.

I just picked up a copy of the Turning Point lp on discogs that was mislisted. Listed as a second press but the one that arrived was third press (which I already have). I may hold onto it anyway to trade – so if anyone needs a copy please send me a PM. This is the version with the royal blue stripe on the sleeve, white labels and smaller glossy insert. All in good shape. Thx.

I have an extra Chain WHUA reject press sleeve that I'd like to trade or sell. I put it up on discogs with an inflated price but am not really expecting a lot as I don't know that these sleeves alone are in demand at all. It's one of the photocopied sleeves that came with the 400 or so reject press records that were not part of the Chain Crew edition. It's totally original but again I have no idea if anyone could use one of these. If anyone wants it, send me a PM. Thanks.

I think Elliott's song in the air is the best record that band ever did, and one of the best Rev ever released.

And then the fact that SOIA have played Conne Island (20 maybe?!) times in 25 years will be somewhat more convincing than " I deserve my own pressing of the GB 7" because it was the first Rev record I ever got way back when"That was why I wrote that my example was absurd. It was meant to be.

Settle down Billy, no one's asking you to apologize because you're boys with SOIA.
Please note that I didn't call this or the Burn record bootlegs. But to play devil's advocate, hasn't SOIA played everywhere 20 times by now?
My point was that they wouldn't have happened if kids in those cities hadn't come up with the ideas on their own....which on one hand is great but then on the other it's like.....Burn just played Philly for the first time in 25 years, why not press a 7" for that show? Maybe SOIA has played Dubuque, Iowa 65 times (I cannot officially verify that), why not press a 7" for the next show there too?
If it happens over and over then it's like...what's a "real" release and what's not? Again, not the end of the world, just a question that came to mind.
Didn't suspect anyone made money off the record and, of course, it's great that whatever proceeds came of it were given away.

Although if this nstarts to happen of a more regular basis then it will become pretty redundant and dumb quickly. That's my point. My example was meant to be absurd, but couldn't almost everyone come up with their own special reason to ask Rev to do a special pressing?

I get all that and generally agree with you. But by that logic, couldn't I decide that I deserve my own pressing of the GB 7" because it was the first Rev record I ever got way back when? So I'll just pay for Rev to press up a few hundred records for me, right? That's the distinction I'm making between these and other Rev releases. And yes, I know this is all just record collecting minutiae. It's not the end of the world by any means. I do have a copy of the SOIA btw. I am "bonafide."

I don't care about the stamps at all but am curious what the origin of these records is.
Did Rev or the bands approach people in Leipzig and London, respectively, and suggest the idea of doing one-off presses of the records, or did kids in those cities approach Rev/the bands?
If Rev or the bands had the idea themselves (and paid to have the records pressed/covers made) then I think these are totally legit releases on par with the Chicago set from a few years ago.
If it was kids in those cities who approached Rev and paid for the manufacturing – while it's totally DIY and obviously made the shows special – that seems like "create your own rarity."

In those cases of other tour or record release presses, the bands or the label manufactured the rarities, i.e. "official." Just my opinion too.

The other difference is that the RSD SOIA 7"s were an official Rev release whereas these new SOIA and Burn pressings seem like Rev-sanctioned releases, as someone else said.
The idea of kids contacting Rev and getting them to press records for a show in their town is neat and totally DIY but at the same time they are manufactured rarities in my opinion.

Who paid for the Burn or SOIA records to be manufactured? The bands, Revelation or the guys doing the shows?

I agree, the SOIA is a little ridiculous with all the different variations. My only point is that I didn't see any criticism of the Burn 7" at all. It seemed like people were universally psyched on that whereas the SOIA is generating somewhat negative feedback.
Overall I think it's kind of strange that these 7"s even exist. But, I was planning to listen to the Ray & Porcell 7" here at my house next weekend. Maybe I'll press up a few hundred records for the occasion!

I'm curious why this is one is getting slayed and the Burn in London didn't. Aren't they both manufactured rarities?
