Killing Joke - Brighter Than A Thousand Suns.
I don't really have a definite #2 that comes to mind--a handful of strong contenders, maybe--but KJ is definitely #1.

If we were talking record covers ONLY off the top of my head my favourite one would probably be this. I am all for simplicity. However, I think you're talking about the whole package, record, jacket, inserts and whatever else goes in there. In that category there are only two top spots. The rest is so far behind that you don't even see whoever comes at #3. #1 Just about everything released by CRASS RECORDS. Music wise probably about 70% would be highly questionable but from the visual/artwork point of view they are unfuckwithable. 90% of their releases with few rare exceptions are beyond amazing. And the consistent theme running through the 7" series is NOT boring like someone once told me. It's fucking genius. Only thinking about this shit make sme want to buy a typewriter. #2 Probably very heavily influenced by the CRASS records in the design department (mixed with the 50s American advertising lol) = Dead Kennedys It seems like they didn't really give a shit about the 7"s or 12"EPs they put out but any of their LPs on the other hand... posters - check, fanzines - check, flexis - check. Very CRASS influenced. And probably much more listenable to anything CRASS has ever put out lol I think the Abused discography that came out recently goes back to those roots. It is my favourite record that came out recently in terms of "entire package" not just music.
