REV151 Texas is the Reason question

I am digging into this one:

151. Texas Is The Reason

2013

Test press : 4 black vinyl
1st press : 503 blood orange vinyl
1,101 black vinyl - 180g
2nd press : 540 orange vinyl
3rd press : 1,060 orange vinyl
2014 press : 553 opaque orange vinyl


And it is hard to see the differences between the orange presses. the 'opaque' on the 2014 press confuses me because it is not opague (isn't it opaque when you cannot see through it???) and it is already mentioned that the REV worker updating the pressing info does not know the difference between the normal and opaque vinyls....

anyways. I Always buy the record when it is released, sometimes a few week later. so the 1st press black can only be one version.
the first press orange had a red stickers on the sleeve and is orange. and to my believes this is opaque because I can not see through it. this was the first version of oranges and called 'blood orange' in the pressing info in that time. I Always wright down that information.

than the 2nd press came which was clear orange. no sticker on the cover saying it's colored.
the 3d version was also clear orange, no sticker on the cover saying it's colored. this version, both lps have a red swirl through it, so this reminds me of 'blood-orange'
the latest 2014 press, 4 th press is caled opaque orange. now here I am thinking I have something else. both vinyls are not opaque but see through,one vinyl is clear orange and the other one is with that red swirl through it.

maybe Jorg knows more, or anyone else...


I checked the covers, no differences, lyricsheets: no differences. the download sheets however have differences in releases. can I assume all copies have the same layout download card (with releases shown in it). of so, maybe we can compare them...

When did that show up?

I only have the first press "blood orange" and black which i preordered.

Crazy they did all those orange variants.
The could have done all different colors (i would have bought those ;-) )
And that 3rd press is a lot! About the same amount as 1st and 2nd combined!
Why?!

Duh!

I meant why so much for the 3rd and only half of it for the 1st, 2nd and 4th.
Like they had a hit single or a tour (both are obviously not the case) at the time of that release.

Most represses REV does are between 500-550.

1st and 3rd look pretty much the same in this pic.

On this picture, which is actually not so great, but you can see the difference between the orange quote good.
The first press is the only one you cannot see through.

ferry I've been kind of curious ever since you posted about this record but does your first press BLOOD ORANGE (that cracks me up) have any marbling in it or is it solid?  It's hard to photograph -especially with my crappy iPhone but here's mine...






It looks pretty solid but it has a lot of beautiful marbling...






Again, sorry for crappy pics. It's hard to photograph.

I will have to look into that, but all my record boxes are pulled up right now since I am getting a big wall with a new closet for all my boxes. Next week everything will be done and I can check the record.

I am so sorry for the late answer, but YES mine has marbling in it also. looks awesome by the way.

this brings me to another thing. I recently bought the 2015 version (not mentioned in the rev.txt file) but I noticed there was another press, so I ordered one. Just now I checked all the versions and was hoping for a difference between the 2014 and 2015 press. but at first I was kind of disapointent: no difference to see. same cover, same color vinyl, some labels. I even checked the download cards, because there sometimes you can see if it's a later press because of the releases update on it. But that was also the same.

BUT THEN: I noticed a diffence on the back of the lyricsheet. the color of the 2015 press one is more red that orange like the 2014 press. but this is for nerds. but the differnce is quite obvious: on the 2015 press lyricsheet they finally made the text readable by printing the letters in white instead of black!!!

I bought one (from a distro) two months ago so it could be a new one or one from the previous press. So now I have to check which one it is haha.
