How legit is this info?
050 Black Vinyl - Black/silver A-Side label, band photo on B-Side comes with 3rd press sleeve
I found this record in a shop today for $30
Originally I just thought it was the 3rd press. Only when I looked at it again at home did I realize it was the 2nd press vinyl in a 3rd press cover.
Where does the "out of 50" info come from? What's the story with these?
I always thought this was the same sort of mix up as the GB banana/purple and banana/red
That they had some left over 2nd press vinyl and just paired it up with the newly arrived 3rd press covers. Unknown numbers.
Where does the quantity of 50 come from then?

Made up I would guess. Speculation that has become fact over the course of time.

I would think so, too. Now this begs another question: Is this something that's collectible aka worth keeping? On one hand I want it because it's a version that was paired up by REV and sold like that which makes it a legit variant. The same as mentioned GB on banana with purple 2nd and red 3rd covers and the same as Wide Awake on Schism where you find 2nd press vinyl with regular 2nd press covers as well as the 3rd press Sammy covers. On the other hand I have the 2nd press and I have the 3rd press already so this one feels a bit like a 3rd wheel on a bicycle. If this was a $5 I'd definitely keep it but I still owe few grand for a bunch of tests I bought so having $100+ for this 7" seems kind of appealing at this moment. Yet, from experience I KNOW that I will probably want to get this back if I sell it now. I'm on the fence here. Push me one way or the other  |

I picked that 50 figure out of the air, just based on what I've come across on eBay / popsike / other collections.
With all these odd versions, its up to you were you draw the line. I've got this version in my collection and wont be parting with it. But if your sitting on the fence with this record, I would guess you might as well sell or trade it.

If I applied this logic to every record I am selling I wouldn't have gotten rid of any It all adds up. However, I am not going to make a mistake of selling something that I am sure I will want to hunt down again in the future so I will just save myself a hassle and keep it. I do have an extra copy of WARZONE 2nd press with orange inserts for sale if anyone's interested. |
