This seems to be something not really discussed amongst hardcore record collectors, which i find odd, because on other types of vinyl forums people seem to go on and on about how important it is to clean their $2 Pink Floyd record that is pressed out of a bazillion. Yet people that have rare records worth in the thousands of dollars don't seem to talk about the importance of looking after or cleaning records. So do you clean your records, if so how? I use to just use one of those clothes you clean glasses with to lightly remove excess dust, but a few months ago I bought myself a brush and some actual record clearer. The brush is great for removing dust on the record and I now use it most of the time whenever I put a record on. The spray cleaner I rarely use and only really use it when there is built up grime. The Discord 7"s I bought recently, particularly the Youth Brigade and Government Issue 7"s were covered in filth. Spray the cloth that came with the cleaner, give the record a wipe (avoiding the label) and they look and play as good as new.

Agree with what you say here!
All my records are stored as clean as I can possibly get them with the means I have. I don't have a cleaning/washing machine or anything like that and try not to use any liquids, but I do use soft cloths to wipe off any grime or fingerprints if present. Not saying liquid sprays are no good, I bet they are, but I just don't no enough about them, yet. I also have a small anti-static gun, but I doubt it's effectivity.
For me, a carbon brush is an absolute necessity. Everyone should at least have one of those. They do a great job and they aren't expensive.
I know that a lot of die-hard vinyl collectors use cleaning machines and stuff like that, even when they buy a new record as the pressing plant always leaves an oily residue on vinyl...

I got a VPI at the shop (I used one at a local hi fi shop before I owned one), but a bulk of my cleaning gets done with a t shirt and homebrew cleaner.
Homebrew formula: 4 parts isopropyl alcohol 1 part distilled water Drop of wetting agent (the only part of the equation that's tough to find)
