Wow, that is such a low amount of records for Rev, 549!! Is this typical of how much they press these days? I'm really out of touch with modern bands, but I'm thinking either By A Thread are just not popular or the hardcore scene (at least the record buying side of it) is in a really bad state! My bands have always pressed 1000 records minimum, and we have a split 7" coming out later this year which will be 1000 copies. I find this really strange.

I think they only pressed a few hundred for the Bold 2x lp discography as well.

It is hard to sell a 1000 records nowadays, a lot of younger kids are totally cool with just downloading music. This what I heard from several labels out there.

and, this is only a thought: if REV presses more and they only state 250 this color and 250 that color and keep the remaining behind. after a while these remaining copies be sold as another (new) press on maybe another color. I think it is too expensive to press a totally new record only 500 times with all the start-up cost, masterplate etc... don't get me wrong, I am not dissing REV because I love them, but it seemes like not a bad idea with all the downfall of cdsales and this way more vinyl is sold to us, the fans and collectors.

I think it's a mixture of issues to be honest, but I'm guessing that the main reason is that not many people really care about the band By A Thread.
I agree that less kids buy vinyl these days. However, for the right bands, kids still go crazy. Deathwish reissued the two American Nightmare albums recently and they pressed nearly 5,000 copies of each. Yes, Deathwish is a big label and has good distribution, and yes, AN were a big band, but still, it proves that it is possible to sell a fair number these days. If Rev are knocking out 500 Lps then that's because they know that the demand isn't there.
