Can anyone fill me in on what happened to them to make them look so glossy from the shrink wrap?

The shrinkwrap didn't make them jackets look glossy. I was talking about this with Marcus few years back. There may have been a thread on this here as well. I'm not sure. My best guess is that the company where they printed the jackets used shite gloss coating. Something, not sure what, temperature?, humidity?, caused the coating to stick to the shrinkwrap and sort of peel off the jacket leaving the ugly impressions/smudges on the surface of the jacket. If I remember correctly, together with Marcus, we went through our entire collections looking for more examples of this. I can't remember if Marcus had more of those but I think I haven't found any (fortunately).

The prospect was too depressing as I bought many, many records from labels that came sealed in shrinkwrap, which I always sliced open but left on. If I were to discover lots of records with fucked covers I think I would probably be suicidal.

HAHA.. Remember your photocopied covers + poly bags + radiator misadventure? Actually it was PVC covers not poly bags. But yes, of course I remember. I still haven't fully recovered from it. Ten years later and some 7"s have not been replaced, although my appetite for replacing them has faded. Mainly because they just sit in boxes and I never see them.
