You call me up and talk About money.
The Australian dollar is at a 6 year low against the American dollar and I'm am to use the one of my favourite terms correctly "pushing shit uphill" when it comes to buying and making offers. Eg $600usd is now for me around $800aud. Hard times.
Does anyone else's spending habits change when exchange rates plummet? Or have periods like the gfc affected your buying in the past?
This doesn't affect xreganx he just goes hard. Haha

Since the Euro lost around 30% of its value compared to the US dollar, I am way more selective on buying stuff. Together with the raising price of vinyl and the always raising price of shipping, it has become too expensive.

Go hard or go home!!
Funny thing is, just before I saw this post I saw that rev have pressed (yet another new) YOT WNITA press and I was thinking to myself, fuck it is expensive to have to keep buying these repressed with the exchange rates being so shithouse.
The big wants I don't mind, I'm happy to pay whatever usually, because I really want it. The lesser wants are what gets to me, having to spend almost $50(Aus) for one LP is getting to be ridiculous. It's one of the reasons I actually have a very small record collection, I focus on big ticket items and particular bands, rather than $50 here and there on other records.

this is a perplexing topic fellas, because in the states, everyone but the filthy rich seems to be claiming poverty worse than ever at the moment. the states are in total chaos right now. people working their asses off (some working 2 or 3 different jobs) that still cant afford to buy healthy food, pay their rent, no health care, etc., etc... people are even taking out loans for 8 years of collage and then cant even find jobs when they graduate. times are sure tough in the states as well guys. we're all hoping this gets better soon. god bless

That more and more seems to be the future of Europe too: the rich, the working poor and nothing in between.

That more and more seems to be the future of Europe too: the rich, the working poor and nothing in between. That is what is happening right now in Europe, in advanced stages in the UK and already has happened in the USA. Looking at the major companies in the USA: CEOs now earn 202.3 times more than than the typical worker, compared with 26.5 times in 1978. Hooray for the trickle down economics! We will be the first generation to be worse off then their parents, it used to be the other way around for several generations.

When the pound starts performing as well as the euro my reggae collection will double overnight.
