Hey fokes, Hope everyone is well It's been along time since I have picked up or sold any records, so I'm totally out of the game. I was hoping a few of you might be able to help me out. I've been thinking about selling some records and zines. I'm thinking about holding into the early rev and gun stuff, but I'm open to ideas. I've never used discogs, is it easy to use? Any pros and cons vs ebay? Are there any message boards like Livewire that you can recommend for selling? As always thanks for your help

Ciao Jon, get ready for a massive number of PM's ! Discogs is cool, but you pay fees, so if you are able to sell on a board, it will save you alot of money.
Livewire is dead, this is the only cool board still existing. try selling here!

i havent sold much, so i wouldnt trust my advice. but it seems that IG works out well for a lot of people. it seems that you need to have the followers for it to work well. this board does get the lurkers so i would just put out the feelers here too if its a good record.

The Euro is weak right now, so prices have dipped on a lot of stuff. The best order of operations is:
1) Throw a big PRICED list on your messageboards/social media sites of choice (none of this "make offers" bs, that shit's amateur hour)
2) Then list on discogs, which is easy enough to use and has reasonable fees
3) Then after a week or so of sitting on the 'cogs throw whatever you have on ebay and let the market decide.
The general "culture" of online record buying gets more nightmarish every year. People want their shit sent yesterday and will bitch about EVERY little condition issue, so go very slowly when listing and grade conservatively. And yeah, especially when you get to ebay mode prepare for a lot of whining if you don't have the package shipped with tracking info within a matter of days.

Just sell it all to me. Will save you the hassles of overseas shipping if nothing else.

Colin totally hit the nail on the head here with the appropriate steps. When I had to sell most of my high end records this year I just put up prices that I was happy with on this board. That way in the first 24 hours the list was up on the board I only got 5 messages from great buyers who where happy with the prices I posted and just sent through shopping lists of what they wanted. If I said I was taking offers I probably would of got 5 times more messages with a mix of good offers (may of got better money on a few records, but im happy with what I got looking back) but I might of got some horrible offers that I would of have to sift through, then the waiting for better offers, the headaches etc. As Ive said before "the offers game prematurely ages me". I sold around 80% of my list on this board using buy it now style prices including postage. Then after the list started quieting down I opened the list to offers. That way I only had a handful of records that people put in offers for, once again less massages less headaches. And to the credit of the members of this board when I done that I got some really reasonable offers and I took a majority of them anyway :-) So all in all I sold a majority of what I had and only had to use Discogs and eBay as A last resort. But definitely use this board as A first port of call.

The only advice I want to add is avoid Instagram. You will get heaps of messages, but all from jabronis asking "how much" or people that haven't read the descriptions or sending super low offers and is overall just a nightmare. At least that's my experience.
Edit: IG seems to be okay if you only want to sell one or two things, but forget about lists, huge nightmare.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm going to put together a list with prices. I'm going to start off with the later rev stuff and see how it goes. I hope I can fill in the gaps of your collections
