since a while I have the test of this record. what I then noticed is that the etching on the test is different than on the normal black and pink version. I thought this would mean there has to be another press, a newer press of which this the testpressing should be. Because the black and pink versions I have since ages.
now recently I scored another test for this record. I really hoped on a different test/etching, and IT IS! this seems to be the first press test.
what I have as etching on what I believe is the first press: side a: REV:88-A RE-1 R-18301 RE-1 side b: REV:88-B RE-1 R 18308 RE-1
and what I believe is a letter pressing: side a: REV:88-A R-18301 side b: REV:88-B R-18308
what do you guys think?
can you check your normal pressings and tell me what's up with yours???

If I remember correctly, the "RE" part is a sign that it is a Remix.
So then I would think the RE version would have to be the 2nd version. My 2 cents...
It's with Rainbo Records labels I assume? Are the labels themselves identical?
Good work detective K.

I also think the re is a second test, but because the vinyl you have also have the re on it, and if everybody also have the re on their copies perhaps the other test is a rejected version from which no pressings where made
my 2 cents

Maybe Jeff is right. If some of you readers can check their matrixes and reply than we can have the mystery solved

Sounds like they are most likely from the same pressing. The "re-#" etched on either side denotes that the original test pressing was rejected and that side had to be remastered for some reason. I have several tests like this. I've got three test pressing for Career Suicide's SARS 7" alone, two separate rejected test presses and finally an accepted test pressing.

I think that a "RE" means remix (or remaster), and that doesn't always have to mean that the first mix was rejected.

A new question I (and maybe others) have for you....
....can you discover why it was rejected?
-pauses too short/long -sound aspects -wrong rpm -wrong a/b side -etc

Don't think so, more like "revision/revise" My idea that it is a rejected test is because the pressed vinyl(black and coloured vinyl) has also the "RE" and I don't think they are both repressed with a new test. jeff xXx

Hi Ferry
I have this First Press Test too and a few pink and Black copies and they all have this:
side a: REV:88-A RE-1 R-18301 RE-1 side b: REV:88-B RE-1 R 18308 RE-1
On side B the matrix number is bigger.
I think theres no second pressing of this, so you got the reject one.
Great score.
