Edit to the post above: I've just thought of another reason for printing only 800 covers while knowing you have 1000 records:
They've run out of the coins for the photocopier.
But even then.. I think my theory still has legs.

My blog is coming back and will be mostly about records. I am moving the whole thing to a new server and and as addition to being busy with life I am also a bit lazy at doing it hence it takes forever.
I just had a look at that link on Marcus's blog and it seems to be the same rejected pressing with the Mindpower cover.
My theory is this (no proof just a theory): You know how they say they printed the yellow covers and at some point they've run out of them so they printed additional 200 or so of the blue ones? Think about it: Unless you're Jesus, once you know you have 1000 records you are not gonna go to KINKOS and print only 800 sleeves hoping it's gonna be enough. You could do that on purpose because you plan to make another sleeve for the remainder of your pressing but this is not what the story tells us. The story goes: "they've run out of the sleeves and had to print additional 200 on blue later" so no planning was involved.
Anyway, what this tells me is this:
They printed 1000 yellow covers and once they got back home someone said: - Look, I've just realised I have a box or two of these fucking records sitting here under my kitchen sink (the rejected press). Let's pop the sleeves on them and get rid of them fuckers first. Make some cash and then get rid of the new ones. That would explain the shortage of yellow sleeves and need for printing the blue ones in a fairly reasonable manner.
Also if you add to it the fact that the rejected pressings with yellow cover pop up for sale with very similar, I'd even say, almost identical frequency to the Mindpower pressing with blue cover, you get another piece of the puzzle confirming my theory.
That's it from me for today as far as vinyl forensic archeology goes.

Here's what I know: This is 100% the rejected vinyl. You can tell because the labels are black and white. The accepted pressing's labels were also black and white but had a softer tone going into sort of sepia-ish hue. These were higher contrast pure b/w
Now there are several vinyl/cover combinations for this pressing:
- Vinyl only no cover - The photocopied Mindpower cover with photocopied Foundation small insert (probably most common one) - The yellow Mindpower cover and insert (one you have, probably second most common, I see them often enough) - Chain X Crew / 100 - actually less than 100 because McMahon still has numbered inserts without the records so there couldn't have been exactly 100 - The Confusion high contrast cover with Mindpower insert (probably the rarest)
Hope that helps

Fruit cake or genius. In all probability out of 3729847928364 people looking at this there might just be one person willing to pay $25 for a $3 record without an insert lol Probably not but you never know. I saw crazier stuff on ebay.

I've seen some Gilman copies with handwritten numbers instead of the stamp.

I've lurked here on occasion, but never had a reason to post. Not as hardcore a collector as some of you guys. I've had this forever but never thought much of it. Looks like they missed the mark with the number stamp so they hand wrote it. View AttachmentView AttachmentThat's pretty cool. Looks like many of the early to mid 800s came with the blue sharpie nonsense. I'm gonna have to look into that. It's amazing that after nearly 30 years you still can find some new things about those records.

WOW... How did I miss that SBS test press...? If I had known that Hammer was selling it on ebay it wouldn't have ended at $910. It would have ended at whatever the highest bidder max bid was + some. I have been after the Rainbo labels 2nd press SBS test for a looooooong while. And this one sold for next to nothing imo.

It's close to what I was thinking for these $250-300 for the mix $850-950 for the pink
I'm surprised though the test is valued at only slightly above the value of the pink vinyl I think it's worth AT LEAST twice that ... If not more.
While you can have a go at the pink every 5 years or so, this test could be easily shelved in the 'once in a lifetime' category

BOLD : Running Like Thieves : Rev #11 1989
$?? Test press $?? 1st Press, pink vinyl $?? 1st Press, orange/pink transition
I am discussing a rather crazy trade option with one lad and need to have a cash value on these. I have some prices in mind but I want some 3rd party input to maybe bring me back to Earth a bit. Any ideas?

Yesterday, very randomly I picked up the Plastic Bertrand An 1 LP I must have played it about 666 times by now. It's so good. I remember this was on the radio A LOT in the earlier 80s. Like 83-85. I feel like I'm 6 years old again lol

Bunch of totally random records I found in a forgotten box when sorting out the mess in my room. These were destined for ebay and somehow got "misplaced" for some months, possibly years.
Email/pm with deal proposals/questions (xohashix gmail com):
FU's Rock The Nation #'d /410 IGNITE Call On My Brothers ORIG CONVERSION BLITZ VOAG Japan Pressing BLITZ VOAG green vinyl AF Victim In Pain ORIG RATCAGE with Important logo (in very good nick, no splits, no creases etc) YOT WNITA Caroline 2nd mix DK Frankenchrist w/ GIGER POSTER CONDEMNED 84 Amongst the Thugs PARTISANS No Future LP on pinkish/orangish vinyl CHAIN LP 1st press SHELTER Mantra - this is the one with that weird looking sunflower face, not the one with sitting Krsna looking biatch

And why is REV selling items on Ebay? Why don't they put em online in REVHQ.COM Maybe because more people check Ebay than their website? I think it's more because they wouldn't have the bottle to push it from the webstore for 60 bones and on ebay no one will say a word. Also the ebay postage is at $25 which is higher than already high webstore postage while really it costs like $9-$12 to send a 7" to the most remote shithole farthest from the USA you can imagine.

Does it work the same as the GB on purple? Up and Down sealed means purple, side to side is black vinyl? That's a good question. I'm not sure. My first question would be whether or not it says PRINTED IN CANADA on the spine. I was just gonna write that

When I was selling the double flaps glued copy I was sure I had another glued one. I see now that I don't so I'm very tempted to get this 0246 one off Leigh lol Leigh, Does it come with the note? What's the condition? No apology note with this one or trade list Dobek. Overall condition would be a conservative VG+, just a few dings in the corners and a slight crease in the upper right back corner of the sleeve. Vinyl is in VG+ condition and the lyric sheet looks pretty much untouched. If you want photos I can post them tomorrow Dobek. I will drop you an email later on! I have to make breakfast for the baby now and then take him to kindergarten.

perhaps some leftovers of the double glue strips on both sides where also used for the second press, but the remaining in the vault 29 where used for the clear vinyl, and ofcourse there can be a few found without glue or a little where the cover let loose jeff xXx The covers for the /29 RSD pressing were NOT from the 1st/2nd press Those were printed on the matt cardstock. The /29 RSD covers are newer late 90s/early to mid 00s hi-gloss coated, machine glued/folded (not by hand) covers. And they come with inserts that look like the 4th press inserts if I remember correctly.

I hate it how the inserts leave the yellowing marks on the inside of the covers.

Actually I believe that 1st and 2nd press covers come from the same printing. They're identical. I had 3 different 1st presses a) with single flaps (glued) b) with double flaps (unglued) this one has never actually been glued, there's no glue residue on the flaps, as per your theory that they used a weak glue and covers just came apart (like MT for example) - I have never seen one that was unglued with residue indicating that glue just let go c) with double flaps glued (this one I sold on ebay some two weeks ago so no photo) Attachments:

I tried it again and with the yellow bg and stars this thing looks like a website that sells christmas trees back in 1992 Am I really the only one who prefers clean, esthetic and easy on the eye design to a loud and cluttered one? Really? It's almost like preferring to wear your average Carnival in Rio costume over the Judge Schism shirt. Attachments:

Leigh, what type of cover is your 1st press SOIA? With double flaps? single flaps? glued? unglued? No flaps fold out? All the first pressings have a double flab(strip) that are glued together only they used a not so good glue type so some are not glued together anymore ;-) jeff xXx Using the word "all" is a bit adventurous in this case You'd be surprised what's out there if you only looked
