i'd love to see a topic on how other people store their collection (how do you keep your 7"? what sort of 7" sleeves).

Argh do NOT, NEVER stack records like that. It will create crazy amounts of ringwear!

That was just, when i put on the protection sleeves. i bought them lately. untill then i just had my very precious ones in protection sleeves. and some of my records already have the ringwear. sad bad true. but to me thats fine. in further future i want to have the 7" separated in boxes with the registers and everything. maybe i'll do that for both the 7" and the 12". well see...

ouch, that always hurts.
Nico, i've also got an Expedit, fine for 12" but i'm looking into a solution for my 7". Might want to get something custom build, a friend of mine is an expert with plexiglass and i'd like to get some inspiration. Was thinking about dividers and stuff. i hate it when these little ones get too much pressure from each other when stacked with too many.
i remember you having them in cardboard boxes or was it plastic?

Cardboard boxes, very sturdy and it makes moving them a whole lot easier. I wouldn't advice getting those boxes for LP's, since they are too big and weigh a ton when you want to move them.

i'd love to see a topic on how other people store their collection (how do you keep your 7"? what sort of 7" sleeves). I keep everything on the shelves, stored vertically and arranged alphabetically. Every record I have is packed in re-sealable polybag. I always take vinyl out of the covers as well to prevent a) seam splits b) rinwear Ideally I'd like to do it for every record I own but at the moment only for the most rare and the ones with flimsy covers (aka TOGETHER 7") I put a cardboard divider between the cover and the record.

Looks great. i can't do that. i have two cats and they would love to scratch on them.... i luckily don't have that many records as you. i also sorted them alphabeticaly. but i keept one box with al rev, dischord, ww, teamwork... stuff. i called it my emergenzy box. i even instructed my girlfriend, that in case of a fire or so she should try to save that box. but no. first us and the cats and then the records. just writing that, not that anymody thinks that the records goe before the cats

I have 4 cats and they are banned from my room. Because of the records mostly. Every time they try to illegaly cross the border they are getting their arses departed back to the cat friendly zone (which is the rest of the house) I sometimes issue them temporary visas for a short stay but only when I'm around and can keep an eye. Most of the time I keep them out. Ian Foot style.

Also in my house I make sure the priorities are very clear:
1. Records 2. Cats 3. Wife

cool. i need to get myself some of these polybags. what do you use as a cardboard divider? Along with the poly bags I buy proper cardboard stiffeners (is that what this is called?) at Disk Union. They are made of a very stiff board. They make them in 7", 10" and 12" format and they work really well. I have them in all Antidote, Urban Waste recordsetc.. expensive shit, test presses, you know the deal...

Ian Foot style. my appartment isn't that big, that i have my own music room... that will come one day, but then i will build shelves on the wall for displaying the records (probably copies of it cuz its not that fun to collect them all in an emergenzy...) can you show us how you separate the records from the sleeve? that kinda interest me. maybe i'll do that to for my expensive stuff. do you have a good idea for the 97a testpress with the moonlanding cover? do you know that one? the picture is kinda glued on and its loosing up like those lotterie checks where you have to scratch off the rubber-kindish-thing. what would be a good way to store that one?

Here's how in my opinion records should be stored: 1. cover 2. cardboard thingy 3. record (I put it inside a plastic sleeve first and then inside the paper dust sleeve) 4. if there's only one thin insert I always keep it inside the cover, if there's a whole thick bundle I keep it outside on top of the record like here

that's what i had in mind. though can't find the 'cardboard thingy' around here. Any Euro kids with suggestions?
edit: what about OG seal? until recently i'd open as much records from the side and keep IOS, but i started removing them from some older records because they totally fuck up the sleeves. even with some more recent releases i've seen some damage caused by shrinkage.
